They announced it after the fact, so likely not planned. Probably the board wanted to do something stupid to prop up short-term numbers and Pat wasn't into it. They have sales and finance guys in as the new interim co-CEOs, so they are even more fu... fundamentally unsound now.

Several generations of disappointments and Intel pushing things under the carpet when things get messy. I would like to believe that he agreed to step down for retirement after everything that has been going on. Hopefully, a new CEO and management may see Intel making strides.

Fired most likely, though I'm not entirely sure why. His record hasn't been great, but when you become the leader of a company on the brink of collapse, being successful is very challenging. My immediate assumption is that he's a fall guy, which is a shame because it doesn't really fix Intel.

I think it's a shame. He seemed genuinely enthusiastic for the company. He inherited a steaming pile of dogshit b4 anyone recognised what it was, he had to navigate all of the fallout. I reckon there are gonna be some really brutal calls at Intel coming, so I guess he doesn't have to do those!

As someone who's not in the technology industry, just a consumer of the products, it means very little to me. What does tug at my heart strings are all the families effected by layoffs caused by bad leadership. They don't get golden parachutes.

I’m sure the investors were calling for a change in leadership. Whether he should bear blame for their recent missteps or not, ultimately he has to take responsibility. I do think the need a drastic change in direction, so this may be a good thing.
