Reading @chrisgrey.bsky.social 's blog today, it is important to address the quality of the work overall.
When the history of Brexit is written in 50 years' time, I have no doubt that this will be one of the must widely used sources

Up to date, sometimes witty, always interesting. And incredibly informative.
Most importantly, as those of you who follow me will appreciate, he is accurate.

Over countless posts I have disagreed sometimes, but I don't think I've spotted anything that could be seen as dubious when talking about Europe.
And this whole package is non-partisan. That is exceptional.

He has never supported Brexit and never supported the May-Johnson redlines.

So while we may not disagree with the May-Johnson redlines, we have the acknowledge, they exist reporting in and around that doesn't mean you advocate that position.
And there is lots that can be done within that,

Geography matters. A fact that does seem to be weighing on UKG at last.

So much bad faith involved on all sides (see the "betray Brexit" lines), so much work and effort and for what?
To get us back to a position which will be worse than where we were a decade back.
Hats off to @chrisgrey.bsky.social .
Really, 90/180 is maybe the least important aspect of Europe-UK relations.
Spain is sovereign, and it wants to honour its agreements and work with its partners. It's not going to break Schengen for that.
Too many people prefer the Disney version of Brexit to the actual reality.
There is a lot of anti-European lies circulating about that, but frankly it's anti-European unity and a bit entitled to expect Spain to leave Schengen for you.
There are ways Brussels could fix this but also ways Spain could fix this alone.
Niall “Mr EU” disagrees but hey 🤷♂️.
(and of course UK gov could ask to rejoin EU or SM or sign new agreement on FOM of P instead)
I don't mean to appear rude, but should you really be allowed on SM unsupervised?
Schengen is however important to Spain.
UK tourists demanding that Spain leaves Schengen is disrespectful in the extreme.
90/180 is the maximum offer for 3rd country tourists within Schengen. You should be grateful that this is offered to you.
It is…
If you want more go for residency or citizenship.
I’d love to work with the EU and UK gov to help them understand what the solutions might be. They are starting to listen I’m pleased to say.

I'm not sure he gets out situation or what Spain can do to help us
He's also a professor of European law, so...

And you want Humpty Dumpty to educate him?
In fact it’s Steve that first alerted me to some of these possibilities of what the solutions might be.
The only reason @stevepeers.bsky.social blocks me now is down to silly misunderstandings over posts N has misrepresented.
And how hard those are, is amply illustrated by the fact that our (UK's) old special member deals are still in the treaties.
I’m unclear whether this could be done as a visa exemption (waiver) without a few changes to treaties but I don’t think any of that makes it impossible either.
What matters is political will.
More importantly, do you believe Spain wants to give Brits 180 days _more_ than it wants to remain in Schengen? B/c leaving it is what it'd take for Spain to do so.
Nobody wants to re-negotiate the treaties.
the fantasy of sunlit uplands, taking back control, global britain, pork markets, stop the boats, they need us more, are laws, are regs.
if Occams Razor had a brexit blog, it would have three words, max: "BREXIT IS BONKERS".
It’s convenient, but lazy to think of this as about long stay, retired holidaymakers over the age of 65 but that doesn’t do the topic justice at all.
Convenient for Brexiters to allow that misconception to persist though.
I’m sure it’s galling to use utility on a property but they did have the opportunity to establish residency.
You may feel differently when you are older (or when you were younger)
It’s not a competition about who has been hurt more and who is first in the queue for a plaster.
So what? What is your point?
You: "We are the most hurt!"
Me: "No you aren't."
You: "Eeewwee meanie, it's not a competition."
Me: "Not to me, no. But you literally just made it one."
Jfc
I don’t know him, however he seems to be a part year “resident” or “dweller” affected by the 90-in-180 day problem.
How can we better help people understand the problem Brexit has caused here?
Inflammatory envy language about “golf courses, villas and Europeans serving the drinks” clouds things further.
It’s a a problem that affects all kinds of age groups in all kinds of industries.
You left.
Remember ?.
Free movement is for Members Only 🇪🇺
It is known as being a tourist.
90/180 is the name of the game (maximum allowed)…and that is a very generous offer.
Residency, VISA or citizenship is the alternative.
Spain is not going to choose a few entitled Brit tourists over their partners and
You are barking up the wrong tree.
For the UK to join the EU you need to change the things in WM.
They have clearly been deeply hurt by it but they won’t see the impact on you or anyone else.
Agree. That's why I'm glad it's being archived in the Wayback Machine (although the earliest snapshot they have is dated March 2017).
is a worry. You'd kinda hope he's bluffing.
I very much approve of the wine, a fav.
Bon app !
(I'd cottage pie, not complaining, a load of kids in the house visiting mine, so I'm thankful for any grub. And it was very tasty)
