I get that the Band has to follow whatever (legal) orders come down to them- but these are MARINES...right? The Les Mis performance at the gov's dinner was so subversive...could they not think of another such subversive act? My H (retired mil musician) now refers to them as "The Presidents' Owned."

As a former band nerd, I feel awful for the students losing an opportunity like this. Such a pointless, shameful outcome, and I just hope it doesn't discourage any of them from continuing to pursue their musical ambitions.
