One humble request: flesh out implications for non-lawyers, what does it mean that they are 'not a federal judge', what happens now, what could happen, does anything happen, does it change anything

If it helps you understand, immigration judges are not really “judges” at all in the sense we understand them, they are not independent courts empowered to impartially hear cases, they’re more akin to administrative bodies
Sorry Chris, I don't think there were 20 hours ago, but I may have missed them.
I do this in my field too, leave an open implication for someone who doesn't have the background. It's never something that occurs to me they wouldn't infer. I work on it.
(I checked the time. They were there. It's not a big deal; it just gets difficult to respond to things when there are lots of replies with questions I've already answered.)
