Strongly suspect he has bipolar disorder l & was, at some point, given an SSRI that sent him into a manic state. It’s known that SSRIs affect people with bipolar l disorder differently. Seems he’s using his negative experience, as Musk used his, to demonize lifesaving/changing psychotropic meds.

I’ll just throw this in the mix. Some drugs “started” out as antidepressants but proved to be powerful help in other ways. Such as relieving debilitating pain for those that suffer from IC. A concept that will filter through every hole in worm heads noggin.

I was on a different, earlier anti-depressant (not SSRI) for about 9 months--a great help, definitely saved my life, did not make me hostile, violent, or anything but glad to be alive and able to sleep better at night. That plus cognitive therapy and a short run of other talk therapy later.

Kennedy is wrong, about everything, and SSRIs have helped millions of people. But frankly, I believe they are over-prescibed. I've been on them, so had 1st hand experience. It was not good, and coming off them was awful. Writing an Rx is much easier and cheaper than ongoing professional treatment.
