Just a guy trying to write books inspired by the games, movies, tv shows and, books I consumed as a kid (and still an adult).

Cooking adventure of the day: trying to figure out what to do with ten pounds of slow roasted shredded pork. Wife wanted pulled pork for supper and I’m stuck figuring out what to do with it. #cooking

I just want to remind you that you do a LOT of things that count as work. You might be like, why am I so tired? I didn't work at all yesterday. Housework is work. Cooking is work. Laundry is work. Yardwork is work. And if you're a writer, if you're doing admin or marketing tasks, still work.

Day 20: bit of a lull, not for a lack of trying either. Bout another thousand words. Mostly side tracked world building as I realized I needed some things fleshed out.

omg wait what about Muppet Hellraiser and the only human is Pedro Pascal as Larry Cotton 😯

Writing science fiction set in the foreseeable future is difficult because about the furthest I can foresee right now is less than a week

Day 14: only about 500 words. Hit mental road block.

Day 10: looking forward to this weekend. Just hope the contractors are done by Friday night. I want my house and my office back.

Day 9: house is a disaster. Can’t even get to my computer, so many walls of plastic. Thankfully I have four uninterrupted days to catch up, hoping to get 10k put aiming for 20.

Day 8: hoping this rain goes away. Ruining my vibe for writing.

Day 6: probably won’t get much writing done. Rainy day is literally the antithesis of my story. #writing

Day 4: another 500 words. Would be more but a furry menace wanted to harass the gangs of squirrels outside.

It's incredible how often I look up a great, old book with an incredible cover I remember only to find the new version is ... shit.

Why is it when I don't make it to the gym for a few days (been sick all week) I instantly feel as if my body has turned into a garbage bag full of mashed potatoes

Wish I could find that gif from futurama. Want to keep writing tonight but extremely sore from the gym.

Day 3: might have ti a typewriter at this rate. Computer crashed. Only ever acts up on “light work” too. Still, doubled my word count to 1200 today so that’s something. #writing

When I say I've been working on my next novella for something like 7 years, what I really mean is that I wrote 1/3rd of it, let it sit for years, wrote another 1/3rd of it, erased that, rewrote that, erased it again, started it again from the beginning, and now I literally don't even know what it is

Day 2: only irked out 200 words. Computer froze. #writing #writerproblems

Day 1: restarting the count. Funeral knocked things off rail plus I had time to reflect. Just going to pants it! 400 words in already!

Unfortunate hiatus, has a funeral. Debating if I restart the count.

Day 59: after an unfortunate small hiatus, was able to get back work. Did a thousand words in about 45 minutes. Hopefully can do loads more this weekend. #writing

Day 55: some words wrote. Fingers too cold after a walk to be effective.

Unsolicited writing advice, no. #16140: Don't assume that your desk is where all your writing happens. 90% of the process of creation happens elsewhere. Use whatever time you have. Thinking time; dreaming time; observing time; analyzing time. All this time can be part of your work. Don't waste it.

Day 54: mostly having to do food prep due to losing power. Have to essentially redo a weeks worth of meal planning all over again.

I really tried to have a good driving day on my way into work and motherfuckers ruined it.

Net zero in 2050 is impossible reckons Badenoch. Wonder if she believed 25 years ago that it was impossible to run an electric car, heat a house with a heat pump or wind and pump storage provide much of our energy need in 2025? Where's the ambition?

Me cooking: **cuts onion** **washes hands** **cuts pepper** **washes hands** **grabs salt** **washes hands** **breathe** **washes hands**

Small ways to care for community: -Check on your neighbors -Donate gently used/new clothing items to shelters -Restock a community fridge -Donate to a local food pantry -Participate in a community clean-up -Donate to mutual aid -Volunteer at your local community center or library Every act matters

*Literally anything goes wrong* Me: maybe Reese’s cups and some excedrin will help

Day 52: not much done overall this weekend. Power was so intermittent from late Friday night until only a few minutes ago.

Day 50: hunkering down in this wind. The girls not letting me get any work done. I will pay the dog tax with a puppy picture. #dog #puppy #husky

Day 48: officially 11 words shy of 1200. Second day of writing. Would be 1200 but a four legged furry creature demanded my attention. #writing #dogproblems

Day 47: fell asleep on the couch. Only maybe had an extra 100 words added. #writing

Day 46: getting words to paper finally. Will start adding word counts to my posts if possible. #writing

Day 45: not a productive weekend. Had surprise babysitting duties come up.

Day 42: think for the fun of it might just do some world building short stories. Get some “proper” writing done but in a way still outlining. #writing

Day 42: not much today, burnt out all creative juices at work doing world building. Better than nothing. #writing

“You write *insert genre*?” I sure do. I write whatever my heart desires and the story calls for.

RIP to all the books I started writing that are sitting on my laptop with one chapter written and a few ideas in a notes app. Maybe in some other timeline they exist in full. #booksky 💙📚

So, I *could* write today, or I could pick up my binoculars and watch the magpie building its nest in the sunshine at the top of a tree visible from my rear window.

hey i know we're in a period of using the speculative to tell heartwarming and cozy stories right now but i'm really excited for books that use the speculative to do really fucked up weird shit

Day 41 (though in the morning since I forgot to actually hit the post button last night.): actually getting “paid” to write. If you count work being so slow I downloaded word and start doing some writing on my phone. It’s far from optimal. #writing

Day 40: start of a new week and new month. Planning to be fully outlined by months end. Hopefully sooner. #writing

Day 39: I realize that I can be extremely sadistic especially if it promotes good story. #writing

Day 38: baking birthday cakes and writing. #writing #baking

Day 37: still alive, just been busy. Been getting rather deep into the writing then get sucked back on thinking about what to add or change. Hoping to get back to normal posing again. #writing
