How are the kids doing? And are you staying healthy?

Well, @kafkaesque2024.bsky.social stole my word, ‘Stunning’. On a cloudy day with a foot of snow, I’m living in a black-and-white world. Seeing these almost makes the eyes pop out of my head. Beautiful!

Great work! This photo is a trophy of sorts that must give you satisfaction.

Wonderful! 💪

Oh, you lucky duck! I still have a foot of snow. ❄️

I think it’d work.

The top of the kiln is pretty cool, too. This is what it looks like about 20 feet up. There’s now a road alongside the top of the kiln.

Let me know how it goes. I’m a person who prefers pork over beef, so this strikes me as a cool idea.

This looks very good. And talk about a quick dinner!

It’s a huge oven used to calcinate limestone, making it into ‘quick lime’, which is used to make concrete.

Yes, for some reason it never occurred to me!

I’m so glad! Lately, I’ve been focusing more on recipes that you can make from the pantry. It’s been good for me.

Yep, we’re getting it after you do. I was trying to remember the term we used before ‘atmospheric river’ — and it’s ’pineapple express’! I like that better. Our ground is still frozen deep, so we’re going to have a real mess here.

Wonderful. I’m going to try it with the maple syrup!

Oh, you go for the good stuff.

Looks like a happy smile. I was recently at the dentist, and reminded myself that access to dental care is a privilege most people in the world don’t have. That re-framing helped me while in the chair. 🦷

This is very cool. I’m thinking of doing some pea shoots like this. SnarkyFarmer invites us to post ideas like this over on #TheOutpost

Gorgeous shots. And as a sailor, you know you’re in for some weather, MizKitty.

I’m not sure why this never occurred to me, but I sure like the idea. This looks great!

That’s magnificent.

Looks like you’re using the old ‘pot in the bottom’ technique. Good move.

Thanks for sharing this, Kris. I honor these folks, and wouldn’t want to live in a world where we didn’t try to save things because of a low chance for success.

Not a bad thing. 😉

Well, this is sounding better all the time!

Maybe it’s the contrast with the free, open sky that can’t be reached.

Thinking of you, Wilma. 💜

Bleak and powerful.

Kids are crazy for it. And it really tastes like comfort.

I absolutely love Costco. They’re good people selling high quality products at fair prices.

Great! I know your love of curling, so let me share a photo of primitive (yet creative) curling on one of our local ponds.

Get the BIG box. 😉

Great colors.

In my opinion, organic chicken, roasted beef, roasted vegetable, lobster.

Oh, this is so hard. I’m thinking of you. 💜

I can see why you begged for it! This is such great comfort food, and I’ve never met a kid who didn’t love it.

If you like Southern cooking, art work, and general hilarity, @montisboeher.bsky.social is a great follow.

They have the big jars for CHEAP at Costco. 💪

Those fries are dang near a poutine! Great looking meal. That sandwich is awesome. Orzo’s going to be glad to get back on his regular schedule.

That’s my experience, too. I have season tickets for our local WHL team, and we’re close to the border. Our players are mostly Candian, and we play Canadian teams. The crowd belts out both national anthems with gusto! We love the Canadians!
comment in response to post
This is highly unusual and disgusting. Remember, this is the sport where they have the handshaking line — all team members and staff congratulating each other on a good game. I just can’t express how terrible this is. 💔 Most the players on my local team are Canadian, with a Swede and Khazakstani.

As a hockey fan, this makes me ill.

Probably. I’m heading to the game in a few minutes and can maybe find out more. We had a women’s hockey game before the last game, and they were awesome. And between periods two all-girl teams (ages about 10) squared off. They seem to be better skaters than the boys at that age.

Looks great, and what a clever substitution! I can’t wait to hear how it tastes.

You’re building a real movement! 💪

Why not? It’ll sure bring back memories. 💜

I’m hoping this is close to your grandmother’s. You’ll probably be able to discern what to add or subtract by tasting this one.
