The people who built the house I currently live in, blew up a jug trying to make wine. You can still see a bit of the stains in the basement.

It's a good question. I also wonder if, back in this period, food was less about flavor and more about nutritional value. Or what they thought was nutritional value. 🤔🤷🏼♀️
