The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 created the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. I reread it today; nothing in the law allows a president to defund PBS and NPR. In fact, Congress specifically sought to insulate public media from political pressure.

Remember, those who claim to be enraged that an almost imperceptible amount of federal dollars goes to NPR and PBS are currently before the Supreme Court demanding that your taxpayer money be spent to fund a Christian school in Oklahoma that definitionally trafficks in propaganda

Tell em, @libradunn1.bsky.social and @semperwry.bsky.social <3

This isn't hypothetical. The coming days are bringing higher prices and disrupted supply chains, this time not because of a pandemic or a war, but self-inflicted by our country's government under this president.

On May Day—the day we honor workers—Republicans want you to know who really matters to them: ICE agents. The average American worker gets a $2,500 bonus. ICE employees? Try $42,500. Jaime Raskin has questions. Jared Moskowitz has the receipts. @raskin.house.gov @repmoskowitz.bsky.social

If you watch 100 seconds of video on the 100 Days of Trump's hellish second term — pls watch this one of JB Pritzker and pls share it.

There used to be a tradition in the Republican Party of making taxes as visible as possible, so that people understood what they were paying. They thought of this as a defense againstan overly intrusive government. But apparently there's an exception for tariffs.

Here it is. A timetable of 100 days of corruption. Breathtaking. Heartbreaking. We cannot let this stand.

we need to spend more time with @repdangoldman.bsky.social's clip. not a single penny toward disaster relief but TONS OF YOUR CASH to "protect" drumpf's golf habit 🧢 @mrsquirrel.bsky.social @zentrixter.bsky.social

OMG I'M SCREAMING 😂😂

This is what courage looks like. Kudos to the team at 60 Minutes.

I have waited my whole life, for this moment....

I wish we could have snap elections, and that our general elections were limited to 51 days.

And now, a note on Bill Owens who, until this past week, was the executive producer of 60 Minutes. We’ll be back next week with another edition of 60 Minutes.

We were trying to capture this 1898 floor when the family dog casually dropped his carrot in the frame. So much better!

Marriott’s CEO said it straight: “We welcome all… we create opportunities for all… that’s who we are as a company.” He went back to his hotel to find 40K emails from Marriott associates worldwide saying “thank you.” Plenty of CEOs talk. Capuano showed up. Marriott still has my business.

The convicted felon who has benefitted from due process his whole life wants to remove due process for everyone else.

Happy Earth Day! Our planet is precious and as a pastor, I believe we are all called to be good stewards of our earth. So let’s reaffirm our commitment to protect this gift and continue working towards a clean and sustainable future.

In Pope Francis’s last public address, he preached care of the marginalized, the vulnerable, and migrants, saying: “I would like all of us to hope anew and to revive our trust in others, including those who are different than ourselves.” May we heed his wish.

*Of course* advance information on US combat operations is classified. Pretending otherwise is an insult to our troops, who all know this. The Secretary is unfit to lead.

Americans are entitled to and should demand better than this from the President of the United States.

I cannot say this strongly enough -- If you are a member of the DC Bar, VOTE NOW for Diane Seltzer for president.

Check out Elizabeth Warren having to explain LAWS to a CNBC host like she’s a 1st grader:

With the sweeping worldwide tariffs — and their myriad exceptions and complications — the new imperial presidency meets the new billionaire politics.

Tonight is the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s midnight ride. May his memory remind us all to resist the tyranny forming in our government.

RFK Jr.’s lies about autism are disgraceful — and I won't share them to spread misinformation. He consistently undermines public health and reinforces dangerous myths. In Illinois, we stand with those with autism, and I’ll keep fighting for inclusion, science, and the truth.

An auspicious anniversary is upon us... www.letfreedomring.live

FYI

This is the kind of thing that, if true, leads to life sentences for treason

Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism. If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone. Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

Which chicken shit House Dem said this off the record? Which one of you is too cowardly to add your name to this horrid statement? Speak up so we can primary your ass back to the stone age.

When Andrew Tate was charged with rape and human trafficking, Trump intervened to fly him back to the US. When a working-class father of a disabled 5-year-old child was wrongfully deported and charged with NO crime, Trump refuses to lift a finger.

This is the answer. Stand together.

🚨Attention Members of the DC Bar🚨 Ballots went out today for key positions in the DC bar. Please vote for: Diane Seltzer for President Amanda Molina for Treasurer Note: Seltzer is running against Pam Bondi's brother. Get your ballot and vote ASAP.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

Good for Harvard

I’ve just posted this video message to members of the DC Bar, urging them to vote *AGAINST* AG Pam Bondi’s brother to be its next president. Please pass this on to anyone who is eligible to vote. www.instagram.com/reel/DIcQFxt...

@benwikler.bsky.social @davidhogg.bsky.social @indivisible.org @kenmartin.bsky.social Groups need to document monies tRump, the muskrat and DOGE have cost US taxpayers. Show totals of money wasted on golf, illegal transports, defying judges orders. Show voters the true costs of GOP fraud! 🇺🇸

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act. Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes? Staffer: a DL and birth certificate. Me: The documents don’t match Staffer: Then a marriage certificate. Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too? Staffer: No Me: See the problem?

Hope this helps.

Hey, @schumer.senate.gov :: you better not be playing cute with your language about stopping the SAVE Act. I hope you intend to VOTE NO ON CLOTURE, as opposed to what you did with the CR when you told us you'd vote no on the bill, but still voted YES on cloture. We are in no mood for games.
