this christian minister understands: trans people are made in the image of god

You don't fire the military lawyers (JAG) and the Chairman of Joint Chiefs if you aren't planning on pushing your "Commander in Chief" status to the limit. Let's hope there are soldiers who will uphold their oath since our leaders aren't.

If you want to understand how we got here, you have to understand Christian Nationalism. It's the permission structure that justifies all of this harm and hate in the minds of so many Americans. Here's a reading list to get you started: bookshop.org/lists/unders...

study anyway research anyway synthesize anyway write anyway share knowledge anyway it’s all valuable it’s all important

middle of the night question for the #SistersInLaw: Do you think the rationale for the floated bringing of the USPS into the Department of Commerce is more to revive enforcement of the Comstock Act and further reduce healthcare access or more to do something fishy with mailed in ballots?

Of course he’s coming here. We have a lesbian governor, a Black woman attorney general, a Black woman US Congresswoman, an Asian woman mayor. Trump and his minions hate that and want to show them as weak. Stay out of our state. Stay out of Boston.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau uncovered $21 billion of cheating and returned it directly to Americans. That little agency is proof that we can make the government work for people. Trump and Musk want to take that away, but we won't stop fighting to protect it.

Hey Hey! Ho Ho! Elon Musk has got to go! ^most often heard chant this morning

some scenes from today’s protest in boston

A reminder. Democracy Docket's entire website is free. Democracy Dockets daily and weekly newsletters are sent to subscribers for free. The only thing Democracy Docket charges for is its premium content. That is how it is able to provide all of the free content to over 350,000 people every day.

This is probably the most accurate take.

jamelle is correct

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

Incompetence in Washington puts every American at risk, no matter how you voted. No one should be happy that the DOGE team - the same folks who randomly published classified U.S. security information online today - wants access to your bank account & Social Security numbers.

Let me put it into perspective: 23-year-old Jack Teixeira, a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman, was sentenced to 21 years in prison in November for posting classified info on Discord. Meanwhile, Elon Musk shares classified info, and we just shrug. This isn’t a culture war; it’s a class war.

me and my buddy squeak

question for the #sistersinlaw: since jd vance has brazenly stated that judges shouldn’t be allowed to rule against the executive branch, can he be referred to the bar to have his law license suspended or revoked? can he be reported? @barbmcquade.bsky.social @joycewhitevance.bsky.social

i, too, can do a whole lot really fast if i don’t care if it’s legal, ethical, or constitutional. oh yeah, and if i don’t know what i’m doing to boot.

Strong rumor with credible sourcing: DOJ has put all of public integrity line attorneys in a room and told them they have an hour for someone to choose who will sign motion to dismiss and if nobody does, they will all be fired. The nastiest strong-arming in DOJ history by a long shot.

REPOST if you support our federal workforce and know how dedicated they are to their jobs. Show them you appreciate them!

After realizing the name “Red White and Blue Land” sounds too clunky, Republican Congressman files amendment to remove red and blue. Is this satire or prophecy? Time will tell.

folks it’s a lot— and it’s demoralizing and enraging. do not fall into the pit of despair. or if you do, find a little rope of happiness to help pull yourself out. what are you doing to bring yourself a little happiness?

So … extortion. Again.

@flagsforgood.com enjoying our new Tyranny Shall Not Prevail flag!!

one downside of a joint clergy household, just filed our tax return ... woof, that's a lot of taxes

Massachusetts Council of Churches, two dozen Jewish & Christian orgs are suing DHS to stop the federal government's rescission of ICE’s sensitive locations policy, which violates the #FirstAmendment & Religious Freedom Restoration Act. #Mapoli #Church www.masscouncilofchurches.org/wp-content/u...

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

Pete Hegseth isn’t DEI. Daniel Penny isn’t DEI. That’s not what DEI is. They’re just grossly unqualified for their jobs and add no value that any replacement legacy job applicant wouldn’t bring. So stop saying “it’s DEI” like it’s a clever commentary on the situation. It’s not.

shaming others might feel nice but it’s not effective if you ever want to try to work with them again

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent. Opportunities are everywhere. Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Yes, there was a bill passed by Congress. Congress authorized it and provided the funding. Trump is trying to do it unilaterally.

This is actually really bad. www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...

The entire federal government should be sued for violating the civil rights act and employment discrimination laws for firing any black person they can get their hands on by calling them all “DEI” hires.

This is what happens when you don't properly evaluate pardon requests on an individual basis. Trump didn't look at prior criminal history, behavior in prison, or risk of dangerousness to the community following release. Now we all pay the price for him using the pardon power as a political reward.

This is NOT a reason for exercising the pardon power & it's not a legitimate use of presidential authority even if Trump is legally entitled to do it. Rewarding people for their political support of your candidacy by pardoning their kids is a sign of political corruption.

SHARE WIDELY. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one. (1/3)

it’s now three days in a row of moving my butt, including two days at the gym, starting to get back into a routine

people like Rep. Mike Collins calling for the deportation of Rt. Rev. Budde prove that they view deportation first as a weapon to use against people they don’t like instead of as a lawful tool to remove dangerous criminals

If you want to better understand the constitutional and legal context of the birthright citizenship order, please give my conversation with @jedshug.bsky.social on #JusticeByDesign a listen.

i hope if i ever get to preach to trump's face that i can have the composure of Bishop Budde and not try to, i dunno, earthbend the steeple down onto the first pew

I don't often share my sermons, but I share with you, "Why Jesus Cannot Be White," my sermon from this past MLK weekend. youtu.be/MK7ACQMeqsI

We really can fight for Black rights and liberation, for trans rights and liberation, for immigrant rights and liberation, for Palestinian rights and liberation, for Indigenous rights and liberation, for disability rights and liberation, all at the same time.

the salute disgusts me so much i can barely speak about it

what a fucking awful day

this little kidney bean was just having the best day

Grateful to Jack Smith and his team

Smith is not making the claim a jury would have convicted. He is restating the standard prosecutors must meet before they can indict, that he believed there was sufficient evidence to obtain & sustain a conviction. The decision is left up to the jury. Justice is done when they have that opportunity.
