@jstevenyork
Looks to me like the IPS sizes are bigger than the finial sizes.

@jstevenyork I think this particular standard is a vestige of 1800s gas lighting. Can you use threaded lamp pipe? https://grandbrass.com/pipe/14ips-threaded-pipe/

@randahl Agreed — and who could trust these powers willing to ignore the Budapest Memorandum they definitely signed?

@waldo.net Got it. A fence would be key for that last 1/32".
Whichever saw you use, the virtue of cutting a new kerf between two fixed boards is that the facing sides should then mate well even if the blade has wandered.

@tilde It can be meaningful to identify tipping points, as you describe, but the alternate outcomes that didn't happen can't actually be studied. Anyway, nothing happens in isolation, so those inflections are also parts of longer processes.

@MegaMichelle Yes, the decimal expansion of “transcendental” numbers goes on endlessly with no pattern:

However, several of them do have names, e.g. π.

@tomjennings That sounds tough, I'm sorry.

@tomjennings Isn't it the case that “LLVM Flang” can compile Fortran into the “intermediate representation” from which LLVM produces C?Unless I misunderstand terribly.
