Pretending that I'm doing the best I can. Trying to make some shifts in my life happen. I play more Mtg than my skill level would indicate.

Birthday buddy! Mine too - but probably no cake. Just play rehearsal.

Ugh, that's my sister's back yard, but I'm stuck across the lake with a play to perform.

Holy cow, I thought Ketramose was still a ~$40 card.

We wound up with a pizza balla after all!

Deep dish is about as close as you can come to a ball(a) of pizza, though

Love the products, but there is something comical about the outer "boxes" on the larger versions. I can't explain it. Something about the overall size and how it's more of a wrapper than anything.

That would answer it then. Gotta love a combo popping off!

Well shoot, with 3 mindskinners, would each of them cause each other to mill 30/33 cards (93 cards total)? I don't know how duplicates of that replacement effect would work: would they stack or just overlap?

It's honestly astonishing that the voice seems to have not changed at all.

I do not understand why I am so often being served opinions from the bad guy from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Wow, at 2? I have twin 5 year olds and we're planning to go to a Tigers game for the first time and I'm still a bit skeptical about how it'll go. Lots of potential, though.

Oh yep, my bad. I certainly should know better (lived abroad for 3 years), but I was trying to whip that off ASAP while eating lunch w greasy fingers and an autocorrect that already didn't like Spanish 🙃

I'd argue it's a more direct reference to Billy Joel's "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant."

But I drafted Northrop in my fantasy bloated defense industry league! This is BS.

How does Oscar look simultaneously older and younger than I think of him at the same time?

No they're not.

I swear it has to go down as one of the finest episodes of any show. (Although the clunky Reghabi/Devon scene was an unfortunate break in the brilliance)

The plates and pizza boxes essentially on top of game pieces is tilting me, lol. Do great this weekend!

Honestly, I saw it on Friday on a beer run and passed it up for the aforementioned reasons. I'll admit I did not read the "hazelnut" part carefully enough. That might have tipped the scale.

I've been off KBS for several years since it became 15+ flavors all called KBS, but damn if hazelnut fudge doesn't sound tasty.

My dad died in January 2016, and some part of me is glad it happened because I'm afraid of what the following years might have done to him.

While I can't be certain it won't stand atop my list in the end, I am fairly sure it will be eclipsed at number one but linger in the top half when all is said and done.
Updated ranking of Best Picture nominees as I see them:
1. Conclave

So little can truly be certain in this world, including any person's true qualification to lead the largest Christian organization on the planet. Putting faith in certainty is a fool's errand.

And finally, I can resonate with the overarching themes of the role that doubt plays in faith - without doubt, what faith is there? A character says, "I know what it means to exist...between the world's certainties," and isn't that really most of existence?

If I have to spend 48% of a film's screentime watching the main character brood pensively toward the floor, I can't think of someone better than Ralph Fiennes to do it. Very effective, unconventional scoring from Volker Bertelman.

The cast is stacked - I'm expecting Fiennes, Lithgow, and Tucci to reunite next year in a buddy comedy that will ALSO get nominated for Best Picture. All three give excellent performances.
