Physics MSc. I like science, history, and being honest, and seeking and holding to the truth in all things regardless of whether it is convenient. Pro-EU, pro-Ukraine, pro-rationalism. Against evil: Barbarians, fascists, and their supporters.

Insane pathological liar surprised that other people can also lie.

Americans need to learn the words "social democracy". But of course right-wingers are already calling common centre-right liberalism "socialism", so that would probably look like übercommunism to them.

This meme has been relevant for just way too long.

I am so insanely tired of the absolute endless lies of Trump, Putin, Musk, Orban etc. and all their supporters, and all the repulsive sycophancy they constantly show towards their dear leader. They are completely soulless, having sold every part of their very being to these authoritarian losers.

He is literally a lunatic. Erratic, insane, evil, and wrong about pretty much everything, with the only consistent trend being that he is a narcissist who wants all the attention and thinks he is a "stable genius".

Also, USA spends far more on healthcare per capita than European countries. American healthcare problems are not due to a lack of funding, but the lack of a proper universal health care system. Therefore, lots of middlemen take a cut, poor delay care which worsens outcomes etc. which raises costs.

Cartoonishly evil barbarians. Like something out of a particularly ugly and unsubtle caricature.

Everyone non-MAGA already knew this, but for some bizarre reason most American media decided to simply not talk about Trump and his extremely close connections to Epstein. It is insane.

Literally every item on this list is a complete non-starter. Ukraine would be completely out of its mind to accept even one of these.

PiS spent years propping up pro-Russian politicians like Orban and sharing anti-EU propaganda that is indistinguishable from Russian lies about the EU. And now Poland rewards them by electing them, while boasting about how anti-Russia Poland supposedly is. It is disgusting. Massive loss of respect.

Don't you feel shame for being insanely ignorant and trying to lecture people who actually know what they are talking about? Do you go to hospitals and tell the doctors that you know better than them because you once saw an episode of Scrubs? Peacetime 5% spending is North Korea level stupid.
comment in response to post
When did you learn about this? Was it a year ago? From a Tiktok or two, perhaps? Tell me more, little toddler who thinks they know everything.
comment in response to post
Right, all the hundreds hours of lectures I have attended about this topic, I know nothing about. We should bow down to your Dutch expertise fighting Russia.
comment in response to post
Do please lecture me, a Finnish reservist sworn to defend my country, about my country's fight against Russia, from your 1.5% spending homeland. I am all ears. Do tell me about your expertise about what it takes to defeat Russia.
comment in response to post
Oh my, you're literally some Dutch moron who doesn't know anything about anything, and you're talking to a Finnish person deeply invested in military matters. It is hilarious!
comment in response to post
Right, that is you acting with perfect projection. It is you who is delusional, and you are not an expert yet act like you are. I think it is time to block you. If you genuinely oppose Russia, I hope you take a moment to reflect on how disgusting your behaviour is and how counterproductive it is.
comment in response to post
I addressed all your concerns and you know it. Your behaviour is deeply dishonest and repulsive. If you're trying to turn people off to your cause, you're doing a great job. Are you a Russian troll trying to do exactly that?
comment in response to post
You did not respond to my concern about Russian puppets. You do realize that Orban is in power because Poland spent years supporting him despite knowing how pro-Russia is? PiS has a good chance in getting back into power. What worth is your military when you're ruled by Russian puppets?
comment in response to post
This isn't they 1930s, the power balance and economy and spending are completely different, and Poland today is not expected to fight Russia alone, let alone fight an invasion from both Russia and Germany.
comment in response to post
Again: NATO is a defensive alliance. No country in NATO is expected to defeat Russia alone. You're vastly, vastly, vastly overestimating the size of the Russian economy compared to NATO. Peacetime UK + Germany already outmatch a war-time Russia in military spending.
comment in response to post
It is the objective truth that it doesn't cost 5% of NATO spending. To claim otherwise is deranged.
comment in response to post
No, I expect them to fight with the rest of NATO, with 2% spending, which is more than enough. Poles spent years supporting anti-EU pro-Russian movements in Europe. They are the reason why Orban is so strong in Hungary, for example. Poles ought to take a look in the mirror.
comment in response to post
Also: If people have better lives (e.g. good welfare, healthcare, good economy) they are less likely to fall for pro-Russian propaganda. Military power is worthless if it is wielded by a Russian puppet.
comment in response to post
Russia cannot even defeat Ukraine. 5% NATO spending is more than overkill, it is triple-double-deluxe overkill. Which you might think is nice, but we do have other priorities too, such as climate change action, infrastructure, research, welfare etc.
comment in response to post
Trump and his legacy will completely destroy USA. At this point, it might already be inevitable, unless there is some sort of mass movement, general strikes etc. to completely discredit and excise the MAGA cancer.
comment in response to post
A 5% target would be completely absurd. You could maybe justify 5% for the duration of the war in Ukraine and 2% after that. I hate how people keep going along with Trump's insane proposals as if they were something to be taken seriously, and not the rantings of a deranged demented mind.
comment in response to post
They know they are lying, we know they are lying, they know we know they lie, but they lie anyway. They lie to insult, to mock, to show what absolute repulsive anti-human anti-civilization traitors they are.
comment in response to post
The root cause of the conflict is Russian imperialism and Putin, so eliminating them would be very welcome.
comment in response to post
The frequency of Russian nuclear threats is a great indicator of their overall status. The higher the frequency, the worse they are doing.
comment in response to post
It is just another convenient excuse for "conservatives" to not care about the suffering of others. "F you, got mine" extended to its logical conclusion where if someone gets sick, it is always their own fault. (But if I get sick, it is not my fault, of course.)
comment in response to post
He's a toddler, proudly telling us that he did it all by himself. It would be almost adorable, if he wasn't such an evil person in such a powerful position.
comment in response to post
How can anyone read this and not immediately realize the obvious truth that Trump is an insane, evil, disgusting, and deeply dumb person?
comment in response to post
More like far-corrupt, authoritarian. Such people have no real ideology beyond money and power. They'll use whatever ideology helps them do that the best at that moment, and might completely change their ideology if the winds change. Like Mussolini going from socialism to fascism.
comment in response to post
Confirms what I already suspected: Like Reagan's "Star Wars" SDI, Trump's golden dome is just an excuse to give billions upon billions to MIC and other cronies to waste money trying to create a system that is impossible, and which they know is impossible. They just pocket the money and do nothing.
comment in response to post
Also they cause a "this is we cannot have nice things" effect. Society in so many ways must have many layers and hoops to jump through just because it has to prevent a small minority of fraudsters etc. from ruining everything. People who scam the poor are also always horrible people in other ways.
comment in response to post
I genuinely believe that fraud is almost comparable to murder. Scams, frauds, corruption, they cause massive societal harm that generally targets the must vulnerable. They may not hold the knife or shoot the gun, but them stealing from the poor kills far more people.
comment in response to post
I will never forgive anyone who voted for Trump, or didn't show up to vote against him even if they reasonably could have.
comment in response to post
Of course, the only people who believed Trump when he made those 24 hour claims were his insane supporters. All the rest of us knew that he had no plan beyond maybe trying to force Ukraine to surrender.
comment in response to post
Trump, you're the one who said you would end this war in 24 hours. No one would have expected Trump to magically fix the problem if he hadn't constantly promised to do so. All he had to do was support Ukraine (maybe increase it) and take credit for peace when Russia finally gives up.
comment in response to post
Betray an ally? USA is not an ally anymore, they betrayed all their allies. Also, absolutely, we should do everything in our power to destroy Russia regardless of what USA thinks about it. But we shouldn't forget that China is also an authoritarian state that threatens Taiwan. Also Uyghurs. Tibet.

"History repeats itself" is far too simplistic, basically useless, even counterproductive. Change is constant, nothing is repeated exactly. "Events with a lot of similarities happen in history, and we can make educated guesses using them" is more accurate but rather obvious, not so snappy.
comment in response to post
Repeating event: "Country tries to use tariffs to enrich itself". Does that work? Well, we can look at history and see if we can find instances where it worked, compared to instances where it didn't, and try to understand why. Then look where the current event stands compared previous ones.
comment in response to post
"Repeating" events are things like "Powerful nation with a strongman leader makes territorial demands towards weaker neighbour". Say, Putin towards Ukraine. Does appeasement work in such a situation? It didn't with Hitler. But did it work with someone else? Why did it work or not work? Etc.
comment in response to post
My take on this is that history doesn't repeat, but it does make allusions to itself. Similar events happen at different times, with often similar results, which is why we are supposed to try to understand history to know why such things happened, to avoid bad outcomes if we encounter them again.

The patient's doctor decided to hack off the patient's left arm and leg to help them achieve their weight loss goal. And imagine the savings now that he has to buy only one shoe and one glove!

You know them better, so maybe they really are just a jerk, but they might be socially awkward and feel like they need to explain that they understand the joke. I feel like that sort of thing happens often with some people regardless of who told the joke to them. It isn't meant to be offensive.
comment in response to post
Russia getting anything at all is rewarding Russia for aggression. It is classic Russian strategy: Take hostile action, make insane demands, get offered partial demands by appeasement-minded or brainwashed people, and walk away with something you didn't have before and which you do not deserve.
comment in response to post
Trump is one of the worst possible people to try to mediate between Ukraine and Russia, and that is obvious to everyone sane. Stubb is therefore cleearly completely wrong here, and I think he knows he is, but he is trying to flatter Trump and push him towards pressuring Russia.
