But on a lighter note, Mark Vientos was surprised to see Mark Sarbaugh waving him around second on his triple.
"It's crazy I got a triple. Usually I don't get those."

Brandon Nimmo and Mark Vientos both said it was a judgment call. Nimmo thought he saw the ball bounce so he ran, Vientos saw Nimmo go so he did too. Everyone agreed it was a tough view for the umpires, so the way to prevent this situation is to allow catch plays to be reviewed.

Marquez told Mendoza he couldn’t get the other umpires together to confer because if one of them had seen a ground ball, they would have said something.

Tyrone Taylor has been unbelievable in center field

Mark Vientos hit an RBI triple to erase the deficit and give the Mets a 4-3 lead. A triple play and a three-run triple in one game isn't something you see every day, but this is the Mets and they tend to defy odds in all sorts of ways!

Yeah pretty clear from the replays that ball bounced. Tough to see from up here, but even on the first replay it looked close but the dirt moved, which is telling

Jesse Winker hit into a triple play, according to the umpires, but there was definitely some discrepancy on that. Carlos Mendoza spent quite a bit of time arguing with the umpire in between innings

Thank you for reading! The pitching staff has a ton of respect for what Senger does behind the plate. It's a big win for player development, and it's a win for the big league pitching staff who won't miss a beat if Torrens or Alvarez gets injured.

Thanks for reading! He'll be back at some point, he's too good of a defender not to be.

Edwin Diaz is coming off the field with the trainer and Max Kranick is coming in

I don't know what the Mets do with three good catchers. Senger has been so good defensively and provided a few big hits, Torrens's defensive metrics are some of the best in the league and he's been a clutch hitter.
Baty and Acuña have been great too and McNeil is coming back.

Christopher Sanchez's velocity was down in his two innings and now it's announced he was removed from the game with forearm soreness

Y'all powered Lindor to an RBI. The power of singing (kind of) on key!

Juan Soto finally had his signature Citi Field moment, crushing a three-run shot to the second deck in right field... But it was just barely foul and it was called back on review. Brutal!

If the Mets leadoff every inning with a home run I bet they'd win

They do seem do be slow-playing these rehabs. Here’s what Carlos Mendoza said:
“I think at this point, it’s just more of building up volume for them, you know, getting used to playing the full games back-to-back and things like that.”

Honestly, this crowd deserves the trumpets. It wouldn't have been right to NOT give them the trumpets today.

Excellent snare by Mark Vientos at third base. Brandon Nimmo signalled to the outfield to applaud him.

Pete Alonso should never change his walkup song again. He is doing "Layla" so much justice. The Mets should bring 80-year-old Eric Clapton out to Citi Field to play it live when he comes up to the plate. I'm sure Clapton's still got it!
