Agree - there's a plan at the moment to run an interconnector directly from Morocco to the UK. The idea of being powered by African sun is especially uplifting on this dark December afternoon!

There's an EV chargepoint operator, Gridserve, in the UK that installs batteries at its charging hubs to do this (although the business case for this also includes being able to have a smaller grid connection and providing flexibility services to the grid operator).
