Reading Careless People. Sarah left the UN to be Facebook’s first Global Public Policy Director (they didn’t have one, didn’t particularly want one, but she thought they needed one). It’s a really good read, but I can see Mark Zuckerberg might not like it - he doesn’t come over well…🙂

Hi all. I’ve just signed up to run the Ali Brownlee 5K in Middlesbrough on June 1st, to raise funds for @candlelighters.bsky.social who are a brilliant Yorkshire-based charity who help families with a child diagnosed with cancer. Sponsor me at www.gofundme.com/f/the-ali-br... please! 🙂

Bradford 2025 volunteer uniform!

Elsie the dream dragon, from Grue, part of Bradford 2025

Apple charts - Social Media. Threads at #1, BlueSky at #11 and Truth Social at…#101 (just below Scruff gay chat). And Twitter? That’s at #2 in the News category for some reason…

What I did on my holidays - Grue, part of Bradford City of Culture 2025. 🙂

@alastaircampbell2.bsky.social “Elon bragged that he spent the weekend “feeding USAID into the wood chipper” The USAID website is dark. It’s staff locked out of emails. Its operations frozen. And millions of lives hang in the balance. “ Can Musk and Trump really do this by executive order?

@nosycrow.bsky.social Photos from a Jack Jackman inspired Penguin making session this morning at Story Explorers, Keighley Library this morning!

Hi all. These arrived at school today. I’ve got no idea who sent them (they were in a Browns box), but if it was you thanks very much! 🙂

I'm doing a free giveaway to celebrate the publication of my latest book! Like and repost to enter (UK only). Winner announced on Sunday. See the link below to find out more about the book. #freebie #giveaway

So it begins… Rise tonight (I’m going tomorrow), then events across the region, across the year. Bradford looks great (then there’s free coffee outside the Interchange, free Seabrooks crisps at Forster Square - both as part of the #Bradford2025 package.

Tickets for the reopening day of the Science & Media Museum in Bradford on Saturday booked - all Wallace and Gromit (except Curse of the Wererabbit) on the big screen at the Pictureville. Then onto Rise, the first event of Bradford’s year as City of Culture. Hope the weather’s OK (Rise is outdoor)🙂

Snowy day!

Walk for Ellerie this morning - Silsden to Skipton along the canal. Find out more about Elleries Glimmers, and donate via. gofund.me/3a6ac861 🙂

Ticket for Rise, the opening event of Bradford’s City of Culture year, bought! 🙂

The Traitors trailer the BBC are running before Vengeance Most Fowl on iPlayer is pure genius. 🙂

Found the 1947 version of Miracle on 34th Street on an obscure channel (‘That’s Christmas’). Richard Attenborough is great in the remake, but Ed Gwynn embodies Santa, and Natalie Wood, in her third movie appearance, is perfect. If you can find it, it’s great - as is the 1994 version. 🎅🎅🙂

Breaking news last night…

Just watched The Primose Railway Children, BBC’s adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson’s book ‘inspired by The Railway Children’ - in that there’s a railway near their cottage, and a direct copy of the tree on the rails sequence, and ‘daddy, my daddy’ (albeit in a different context).

Hi all. These are being made by a local FB group (www.facebook.com/profile.php?...) to raise funds for a brilliant little girl called Ellerie who has been diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer. They’re brilliant quality, and if you’re interested, I’m sure they’ll give you ordering info. 🙂

In August a Liverpool library was set on fire in a fake-news fuelled riot, it's amazing how quickly & positively they've rebuilt. All library services can show their support on 12 Dec #ShareTheLight #SpellowLibrary #LibrariesChangeLives

And this one (under repair!)

Books from Keighley Library’s book sale this morning - for a while, I was the only non-staff member there thanks to the snow! 🙂

Snow (well sort of soggy white stuff!). In the background is Ilkley Moor (wouldn’t want to be up there now!) ⛄️🌨️

Hi all. This is Keighley Public Library, in the West Yorkshire town of Keighley. It was the first Carnegie library in the UK, and it celebrates its 120th anniversary on November 30th. It’s also the current home of Ilkley LitFest’s Story Explorers group! 🙂

After 4,500+ episodes, I have to say I’ll really miss Doctors, one of the most constantly innovative series on British TV. I just wonder if there’s enough space on iPlayer to put all the episodes from the beginning? www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b...

This is Ellerie, the daughter of a friend and former colleague, who is facing a major medical challenge. As they search for a medical trial or treatment to help her, they’ve set up a crowdfunder to raise funds. If you’d like to contribute, the link with more info is at gofund.me/58f2e0a6 🙂

Bluey fans (or librarians/parents who have Bluey fans!), The Works has 9 Bluey books in their 10 for £10 offer, plus some really good non-Bluey books (Oscar the Hungry Unicorn among others). Perfect for Christmas or adding to our library! 🙂
