Yes! All the time. I had a dream a few years ago where I was in Hell, trying to escape. There was a nest of birds also hoping to escape, but they thought if they bunkered down in their nest they would be safe and then a demon bombed it. Pretty straightforward, but it was emotionally impactful.

I do think it was condescending, but it's okay if you read it differently. I wish you the best of luck with whatever advocacy work you are doing, because I am going to go back to doing mine now.

You are assuming though? But rather than assume I am coming from a place of good faith or brainstorming you are assuming I am coming from a place of ignorance or inaction. I would have phrased my statement differently if I had predicted that. Best of luck with whatever you are doing!

I finished it! It was quite good and quite relevant to an audience of young people today - especially in reflecting the hopelessness many people feel and remaining steadfast that even if justice and freedom take a long time to achieve they are still worth pursuing.

and I, in part, applied bc while I don't work at my city's public library I would like to offer whatever concrete support / labor I can in terms of advocating for it. I know that these are very stressful/scary/difficult times but this kind of reactiveness serves no one.

...the issue of educating the public on how library budgets work and where the funds come from? Like, a lot? I run a special library and that is part of running a library. I am a vocal advocate for all libraries and am waiting to hear back on an app to join my public library's advisory board.

I was not trying to imply that it was a secret? I am a librarian and have attended many library board meetings. I was talking about public comm strategies and ways for libraries to self advocate. My bad for not clarifying that I was thinking of a display within the library vs. something online.

and I was honestly thinking of it being posted on a board within the library

This was a condescending response. I am familiar with library ops because I am a librarian (and have been in attendance at many board meetings)! I was talking about it as a tool for patrons and a way for libraries to self advocate to patrons by making information more accessible and digestible.

I wish libraries would have a simplified breakdown of their budget, what that budget goes to in patron terms, and where that money comes from (taxes, the IMLS etc).

totally. your constant reminders to this effect have really helped me integrate more regular, smaller acts into my every day life. And then, once you are in the habit, you see more opportunities to do more! And it bolsters you when the world tries to wear your down.

you know, i think its less that we need to take earthseed as the exact model to follow and more that it's olamina's clarity of purpose and resilience in pursuing it that we should hope to emulate
