You concede that Musk's ask is allowable and proper, and it is not. As even the DoD said, he is not a part of their chain of command.

The dark sunglasses sure do make me suspect he's hiding drug-induced nystagmus, which are of a difference cadence and rhythm from his natural nystagmus.

... In fact, Bates ridicules DOGE’s claimed structure as “a Goldilocks entity: not an agency when it is burdened but an agency when it is convenient.” ...

In addition, these mostly older white men wanted to go back to a simpler time, when they didn't have to think about pronouns, climate change, #MeToo, racism, pandemics, etc. Which I suppose is a kind of incompetency -- an inability to deal with the world as it is, not as they would prefer it.

The far right know that one of the best ways to destabilize universities is to cut science budgets, because research infrastructure are such a large and critical part of universities. Science is therefore one of the first targets in their culture war.

It sure does seem like laziness. There are so many options available to congressional dems, and somehow they choose to only talk about tomato prices?

And it's nice to have empirical support for who we might expect believes "democracy will remain strong over the next four years."
As I've written about, for CN-ists, "democracy" is fine when it delivers results that benefit "us." If it doesn't, re-draw lines of participation until "democracy" works

The decline of DailyKos was also a factor, or at least that's why I'm on Bluesky more these days. I want to think that RFK jr's suit was the primary reason for their decline, but I'm beginning to suspect there were other reasons.

Indeed, it survived the tsunami!

A tsunami is a voltage surge, the Golden Gate is a resistor, and San Pablo Bay & San Francisco Bay are large capacitors. West Berkeley _could_ briefly get 1-3m of surge before the capacitors absorb it, but in practice, Half Moon Bay (barely in the model) will be most affected.
