Apologies for breaking in your thread but what counts as "pricey" for eggs (for US)? Because I'm in Italy and prices have risen heretoo in recent years, and I know part of it is the rising (likely to rise more) cost of feed.

And we're gleefully (if not very patiently) waiting to be able to read them! Go you!

Wait wait wait, what do you mean "the LAST book"? Did I miss a book? *starts to panic-check the booksellers*

As an italian who doesn't live in Tuscany but is part of a culture where grappa is well-entrenched, I am side-eyeing your adviser SO HARD.

I thought not even half the cases were hereditary ? But that makes it even more likely they will look for ANOTHER cause, as (I and) most humans don't like "it's because of you". Pity that the scapegoating energy wasn't directed to "it's pollution", as at least that way it would have been beneficial.

I wonder if part of it is that no parent/relative can easily accept "my child will never be *normal* and there is no reason for it". Like a need to find a reason/culprit, ANY reason at all

Many thanks. A question, if you have time: I use the metaphor of "show the police department (the immune system) the identikit of a criminal" to explain to my family and friends how vaccines work (and why they don't work for immunocompromised/frail people). Am I misrepresenting It?
comment in response to
post
Actually, it's very scary how many people EVERYWHERE don't know how vaccines work. Every happy vaxxer mom I've had a chat at the doctor's had no idea it's mostly to give our own immune system an identikit of the baddies.

We have a particular approach to food? Aside from "my local specialty, you MUST taste it !" ?

Not really? I asked a member on a forum I frequent, whom I know as a dutch person and also a person with environmental sensibilities, about it. I can look up the lawsuit they mentioned (NL vs OilyEvil)?

Since apparently another company already got slapped by the judges for the dmg done to the people (or the community? Language barrière).

IDK if it's relevant to this article (ISDS are prob more a problem for places with weak government protection) but a dutch national put that lawsuit as "not a lawsuit but an arbitration, and an Appeal made in the hope to compromise on the very large lawsuit the Netherlands have made against them".

And unless I remember it wrong, both are vulnerable to pathogens (fungi, I think?) in certain suboptimal conditions.

Paywalled. I can only read that nine houses already conceded to the water (which is, well, expected? Sea wins, news at 11)

And good riddance. I will never keep a snake(venomous or not) and my family has *very* strict ideas about what constitutes a pet...and yet we all just loathe the idea of any animal kept badly.

I think part of the reason it's not more widely celebrated is because most people who know about it also know that the knock-on effect of coal til now is going to last much much longer. So those in-the-know are depressed and those not-in-the-know are... themselves.

I disagree. OTOH, there are just 5 types of mushroom I like to eat - which incidentally are the most easily recognizable and/or commercially cultivated..

*HISSS* Years ago we had an admin steal about 3mil € from the Public Heath Services over here. Smaller clinics/GPs were tightening the belt because there was no money, larger hospitals were doing without replacing staff, everything to spare coin...and she bought a house for her bro and other stuff.

Holy chocolate truffle! We have a pretty much identical legend over here in the Eastern Italian Alps! Although being Good Catholics the Mass of the Dead you *shan't* go to is the one between midnight and morning.

Yeah, I love ILL (Inter-Library Loan), it's a lifesaver for many small-ish libraries, but my point was more about less books on open display=less books "lost" to misplacement. When I did a volunteer stint in a local library one the most miserable jobs was to scan every scaffold for misplaced books.
comment in response to

If it is like other Uni+public libraries I've seen, most of the books are in storage and a nice librarian will fetch them for you. It has the bonus that you lose less books to misplacement.

As an European, THIS. Until yesterday most homes (in Italy) were planned/insulated to save on heating, now the planning takes external heat into account. I must also point out that AC in badly insulated homes/apartment complexes results in the whole area getting the open-fridge effect.

Eh, European & farmer here. I prefer the solar panels to be on top of buildings because most farmlands do suffer under the panels (I think it has to do with moisture+airflow) but maybe grazing land is more resilient. :/ Still better than burning coal, ofcourse.
