Congestion pricing is the best! We’re actually enjoying a walk around SoHo, we parked easily, drove across Canal without wanting to commit murder; totally worth the price.

Balancing the reposts (tbh, I support and/or enjoy them too) to say that it is Friday and I have a new Severance to watch, and a haircut on to look forward to. Let’s take joy where we can!

"We don't work for DOGE. We have always worked for you." Yes!

Women in my community are organizing to go in on Costco purchases together (ie, dividing up packs of 12 toothbrushes across three households, etc.) to avoid Target. I don't know if it's sustainable, but progressive suburban moms are *mad.*

It's both inspiring and frustrating to watch regular Americans suggest better ideas than any of the "strategists" I worked with in Congress.

RESIST! Lots of people already here in UNION SQUARE, on 14th street. The energy is electric. Join us! WE THE PEOPLE are the fourth branch of government! #PresidentsDay #ResistTheDictator #StouptheCoup #RiseandRssist

Rainy day stress baking

Roses are red Violets are blue Eat the fucking rich

It feels appropriate to celebrate the death today of white asshole Captain Cook while trying to kidnap an indigenous leader from Hawai’i. Not sure how that might be expressed in chocolate, but open to suggestions.

Folks: I am NOT affiliated with the group that is using my name to support an economic boycott. Please spread this post, if you would.

Every Senator who votes to confirm RFK Jr. today should be voted out of office. Pass it on.

NYC voters! If you want to vote in the Democratic primary in June you have to be a registered member of the party BY THIS FRIDAY. You can do it online but since the BoE need to have it by Friday, you need to do it by Thursday: e-register.vote.nyc

And today’s office mate

Just so it’s not ALL reposts, I called all my MoCs today and spoke to humans at two of them. If I can do it, you can too!

Hey NYTimes — *now* you’re lighting the beacons? NOW?!? After months of “Sauron: Avatar Of Evil… Or Extreme Uniter?” thumbsucker reporting you’re screaming what we’ve known since 2015? Fuck all the way off.

A must read on how important pressuring *your own* reps is rn! And you have Dems, they are not powerless. “Despair and believing that you are powerless is a form of “obeying in advance” (Timothy Snyder’s term) which ensures the victory of autocracy.“ — Sherrilyn Ifill.

Scenes from a lively rally with hundreds of constituents outside @schumer.senate.gov’s demanding he Resist or Resign! Do your job, Chuck - Democrats should be fighting coups not performing “bipartisanship” with fascists. Cc: @indivisible.org @socialists.nyc

Word, as we used to say.

This is a great idea. Do you know anyone in Congress you can talk to?

The American College of OB/GYN’s website is now hosting the critical documents purged by the CDC This is what every professional medical organization should be doing right now #MedSky www.acog.org/clinical/cli...

Okay, I cannot recommend 5calls.org enough. Enter your address and it will find all your reps (federal and state). AND give you a list of issues to call about AND which reps to call about each of them AND a little script for each, in case it's helpful. They have an app, too.

Called my senators again today to remind them that “No” is a complete sentence, and that Worm Brain is not fit for any office at all, let alone HHS

So my stress-baking has spread to J, who cranked out a chocolate chocolate chip banana bread in between my sourdough discard crumpets, herby crackers and tomorrow’s sourdough loaf.

First they came for the immigrants, and I spoke out, because I’ve read the damn poem before and I know how it ends.

The NYT cooking team coughed up a great answer to “what to do with the ground lamb I bought instead of ground pork?” - Ground Lamb Pulao. It was so so delicious!

✅ NEW by me: Apple and Costco are not alone in taking a strong stand on diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI). The list of corporate giants pushing back on the 'anti-woke' #DEI backlash is growing in 2025. www.thequeenzone.com/dei-isnt-dyi... via @thequeenzone.bsky.social

Watched Everything Everywhere All at Once with my daughter today (her first time, not mine) and it hit hard in a bunch of different ways. It really deserved every one of those Oscars.

The People’s March NYC

Daily senator calls made (to both) because what the hell.

Imma need the News to stop talking about companies "Moving away from DEI" and start writing about how "White men aren't actually competitive in an open labor field and need exclusionary policies to keep pace."

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
