Does anyone know whether the police have been called and, if so, how did they respond?

He was a war hero... But I guess fighting the gays was more important when the war was over 😕

Quick, I need to know: are payments to contractors still serviced? Specifically: is SpaceX still receiving payments?

comment in response to post

Has anyone actually tried to call the cops on them? I'm /not/ suggesting to SWAT them, but their actions are illegal and police might actually take action unless instructed not to do their job.

(I'm not saying it's useful for everyone and definitely not for every application, and maybe the environmental costs are too steep for the value we're getting, but there is definitely value for some people and some applications)

Private servers, you say? Where have I heard that phrase... Ah, I remember. Hillary's emails! Lock them up!

... and still too few people believe it by far!

He'll say that Trump is a corrupt, short-sighted vulgarian, while he's a sophisticated thinker and (the only) level-headed politician who knows what's right and good for this country, so we're safe.

Did you manage to temporarily pray away the gay? Can't explain so much luck any other way /s

To be fair, the whole sentence is in quotation marks. You might even say that to quote "Third Reich" here would imply that the person who said it distanced themselves from the term, which they may not have.

Actually, all democracies should respond with punitive tariffs. This is a case of "at first they came for..." at the international level.

With every day that passes, it's becoming more of a practical than a constitutional problem. Say, everyone agreed to bugger the constitution and go back to pre-Jan 6. How do you get the people back that were pushed out, restore the data that was deleted (eg at the CDC), restore trust?
comment in response to post
Missed that. Thanks.
comment in response to post
Actually that's a little different. The WaPo article talks about information provided directly by the CDC. The other post is about retracting papers submitted to independents journals. Not a big leap, though.

Great, thank you!

This! Just a little thinking reveals that Merz is either an idiot or he doesn't believe the things he says. They're designed to make people afraid and to make the Greens and SPD seem incompetent and callous. The latter would be fine if, again, he believed the things he says.

Whoever is working weekends in admin is doing so because there's work to do! They don't have time to play his games!

Careful: this is just the report of a single person.
comment in response to post
Mind boggling if true. This particular report is just the report of a single person, though. Not that I doubt it much...

comment in response to post
Jupp.

I think I know of one US car maker that won't go down.

'niger', 'nigra', 'nigrum' is Latin for 'black' - mostly just the physical color - and 'de' is the prefix for 'down' as in 'descent' or 'devaluation'.
comment in response to post
I didn't think you did, or most people do. Maybe it's just selective attention that's making me notice it. But yes, it's no coincidence that there's a relative of the 'n word' in there. 1/2

'Denigration' is a word I rarely read outside discussions involving race. Very often (most of the time?) used by well-meaning people. It literally means: "to blacken down".

I mean, seriously, can't it take the water from the ambient air, maybe?

Par for the course, for this bunch, isn't it: "Daddy is home and he's taking his belt off." What is it with them to solve every problem by not solving it and making something else worse instead?
comment in response to post
Tell her what? What happened to the last Dumbo who took the stage right after Trump's first election, to explain to everyone that what they knew to be true was, in fact, in conflict with his admin's "alternative facts"? It didn't end well for her.

As long as they're owning the libs, they do what their base is expecting of them. They just need to make sure there are always enough libs to own and that they're duly owned.

comment in response to post

They're plenty stupid, but that's probably not the reason. It's because they know it doesn't matter. Correct spelling is a sign of respect for the reader. They don't have any.
comment in response to post
Problem with this is: they have to understand it first.

I want to say that's the most apt characterization I've read... And then I fear he might be a bit - though not much - more subtle than that.
