They still look plenty good on the switch 1 btw

I think they decided to get rid of her oversized hat because they thought it'd make her look too much like a kid. A shame, it was such an iconic part of her sky trilogy design.

Just a reminder that even if you forget, she's still staring (professionally)

Time for the best Jindo dungeon theme in Trails.

Can't wait for something like this to happen again with a certain Calvardian redhead.

That's grain filter for ya. Moreso in the first cg than in the second one. Either way, both artstyles are perfectly good, it's the shift between them mid-scene that's a problem.

girlfriends moment.

Only in Trails will you see the artstyle change in the middle of a grainy filter cg backstory. I love these games but I swear sometimes they are shockingly amateur.

Travelling associate professors have had an impeccable moral track record in Trails so far so I'm sure this guy will be the same.

It wouldn't be Trails of Trope Steel without a grandma loli.

How Cao interacts with Rufus (real)(canon)(official)(trust me bro)

You've heard of Silhouette Piece, now get ready for Trails with Silhouette!

When the best part of Erebonia is leaving Erebonia... True though.

Trails to Azure 🀝 Trails of Cold Steel 3 🀝 Having an absolute banger of a chapter 2.

Trails sometimes has the most on-the-nose scale creep for literally no reason. Someone needs to tell those writers bigger is not always better. Like there's no way some bum on drugs is worse than an Anguis + a freaking Sept-Terrion...

Are you doing alright? I heard there was a massive power outage in Spain or something???

Might or might not be a hot take but I still like the evo ver. the best. I love the slightly jazzier harmonization and the added brass lines are just delicious. Noriyuki Kamikura is a great arranger and also did wonderful work for other games such as Romancing Saga 2 Remake:

God, it is so upsetting. Between Shirley, Angelica and whatever it is that drives the entire cast to joke non-stop about Agate and Tita, Cold Steel has some of the most intrusive and fucked up anime trope nonsense I've ever seen in gaming. Thankfully things do get better in more recent games.

Saber Vipers: "don't worry boss! You can beat Wazy this time for sure! You just gotta train!" Wald: "Train?! TRAIIIIIIIIN?!?!?!"

The music was unfortunately not very good this time around. It was especially bad during the performance segment, and I don't like the opening and ending songs either. [15/15]

The antagonists of this game were forgettable and disappointing. Grendel Zolga didn't capture my interest even after the reveal, and the Gardenmaster... let's not open that can of worms. [14/15]

Swin and Nadia still haven't done anything to make me like them. I was hoping this game will give them better treatment than Reverie, but alas it was not meant to be. I also hate the fact that their arc in DB2 is basically just low budget SC Estelle and Joshua, down to the final twist. [13/15]

The rewinding gimmick of this game unfortunately never gets utilized in an interesting way. I really wish we got more player choice and VN style branching paths. [12/15]

Everything related to Heiyue in this game is just dumb and makes no sense. I actually liked Cao before this game utterly assassinated his character. [11/15]

The group connect events, while a cool concept on paper, feel more like underdeveloped filler episode plots than character explorations. Aside from Celis and Leon's, which is great. [10/15]

The Fragments chapter is a poorly-paced mess. It has several decent ideas, but they are presented in a rushed manner, go nowhere and are never followed up on properly. [9/15]

π—§π—›π—˜ 𝗕𝗔𝗗: The entire first half of the game is... not good. Acts 1A and 1B are fine but nothing special. Act 2A is just bad and has downright sloppy writing, with characters making decisions and plans that makes no sense, while Act 2B is simply quite boring. [8/15]

The final boss sequence is insane and full of twists and turns. It's not the best final boss of the series by a long shot, but it might just be the best final boss fight. [7/15]

The finale has some wonderful connect events, perhaps on par with DB1's (which were already unimaginably peak). [6/15]

Act 3 is great and probably my favorite part of the game. The set-up of various "what-if" scenarios allows us to get many wonderful character beats and moments that we wouldn't be able to get otherwise. They finally let Feri out of character development jail. [5/15]

I liked the way in which towns were handled, with us exploring new parts or districts of previously visited locales. [3/15]

The presentation for story cutscenes has improved a lot. There is a fair amount of good-looking animations, and we finally have a proper crying animation after 12 games. In the same vein, the battle animations are also a step-up from the previous game's (which were already good looking). [2/15]

π—§π—›π—˜ π—šπ—’π—’π——: A lot of characters who didn't get properly explored in DB1 get a much-deserved limelight in this game - both in story and in gameplay. Elaine, Shizuna, Leon, Celis and Renne are all wonderful throughout this entire game. [1/15]

I can't explain why but the train rides in CS3 are the coziest "hub area" in all of Trails for me. Yes, even more than the actual schools, the Arseille or the SSS building. I know they 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘢𝘭π˜₯𝘯'𝘡 be, but they are.

I swear Trails fans have one of the worst cases of panic-over-every-vague-dev-message-itis I've ever seen. Personally I'm unbothered by it being different as long as its good. It's not like the XSEED version is going to be unwritten once this game is out.
