We did this. Back in the 19th and early 20th century. They were called "insane asylums" and one of their key features was the idea that they would be entirely self-sustaining...meaning the "inmates" worked everything from janitorial to agriculture to domestic service for the medical staff.

Her story has shaken up metro Detroit. It's very cold up here and she didn't get the help she needed even after calling the city and multiple agencies. She, her mom, and her kids slept in a van. Ran out of gas. Her 9 year old & 2 year old died from hypothermia. I can't stop thinking about her. 💔
