It's an income based scale and it follows a payment schedule that's lower than what most dentists charge, so even with 100% coverage, there's likely a copay.
And yet, this very social media platform has had numerous skeets calling him right-wing, austerian, even "Thatcherite." 'Cause he's been a government banker, you see. I hope these are Russian trolls, or chatbots trained badly on copies of Socialist Worker. Because the Left doesn't need this "help."
Omg their going to get a dental plan. Good for them .
We only get threats to take away everything that we pay taxes for. Plus an immigrant lunatic auditing our social programs .
Yes interesting concept. I wonder if the American people are brave and bold enough for that type of resistance . Since we know the oligarchs do not pay taxes.
Same with my mom in a long term care facility. She had some dental work done which cost around 650.00. The balance I owed was 85.00. Grateful for this insurance coverage.
Same with my parents. Who attributed the plan to their local Conservative member(thanks to shady claims) until I pointed it out to them that evil Trudeau pushed the plan.
In the early days of the plan they were still rolling it out and nobody really knew how it worked, but now that it's established your dentist should be able to bill it just fine.
They have their ragey fits, keep voting for the party at wants to privatize our healthcare, and end things like dentacare, yet don't just move to the U.S. where all their wishes can come true.
Them leaving would improve the health of the rest of us!
Conservatives need not apply as they don't believe in it anyway. They shouldn't use it then and hold their silent protest against the wasted money on their healthcare.
Thank goodness Carney one or this plan would’ve gone away completely. We’re about to be off insurance due to retirement so I look forward to being able to use this plan. After all teeth are part of the body! Now do eyes and ears!
It is yet another example of NDP policies that help define what it is to be Canadian, making life more livable for more people.
Strategically, the Libs will want to hang on to progressive votes they poached from the NDP. This was a smart way to come out of that gate, for the Libs.
Also agree that it was the NDP’s influence that got us programs we might not otherwise have gotten. I tend to let lean more left than the liberals myself and wish for a basic income program one of these days.
Yes, I totally agree. We need voting reform of some kind as Trudeau originally promised. I believe Carney has mentioned that he would be interested in doing it, but wanted it to be more of a hands off process rather than be seen as putting in his preferred system, so fingers crossed!
This a no brainer, dental health is critical to general health which will lead to better health outcomes for average Canadian and less visits and strain on heatlh care system.
To think there are actually Americans who believe Canada would benefit from being a U.S. state. No one in their right mind would like to have to deal with the American health system. I would much rather be Canadian.
And even if you are lucky enough to have health insurance in America it almost certainly won't cover dental or vision.
Because, why would they be important...............
Meanwhile here in the US, people are terrified of losing their homes if they get seriously ill and I haven't been to a dentist in
15 years (good gourd, I hadn't thought it was that long).
Because I’m from the US I just want to ask a question. Now I realize the US is not getting dental care. They don’t even want us to have medical care. My question is what happens to people over 64 in dental care I just don’t think Canada would leave out 65+. Just curious and jealous.
I figured it was something like that. Here even before they where really trying to hurt the poor they would off from programs at 64 if you were disabled even if you worked. They moved you from poor to old and poor. That’s why I asked. I knew they would not do that there.
Darn, wish I'd gotten here first! I would have replied, "Well, actually, when we turn 65 we get a nice little ceremony and then we're pushed away into the open ocean on an ice floe..." ;-)
Yes! Gingivitis is highly correlated with heart disease, with much recent data signalling that it is more than mere correlation: oral diseae may cause heart disease. Fixing mouths can prevent far more dire and costly complications down the road.
It’s really frustrating because Calgary’s a great place to raise kids but there’s a provincial government actively working to make it worse than it was a decade ago when I moved here
Fellow Albertan here! Luckily Smith doesn’t get a say in the Canadian Dental Plan coverage! I’ve had it for like a year and it was an application through Service Canada and the coverage is through Sun Life (iirc). Nothing goes through the provincial government.
Hmmm, maybe Canada can make the US the 11th Canadian province? Please.

Anyone know if SunLife (who administers this) sucks as much ass as their subsidiaries in the US? They are so bad here and just hoover up Medicaid money without providing care.
I know that isn't the point, but holy crap are their subsidiaries in the US awful. Wish the states would just directly administer the plans like they used to.
I know this sounds like whining but I am very grateful just to be able to see a dentist for the first time in years even if I do have to wait a few extra weeks
My oldest will be eligible in mid-May. So happy they will be able to access dental care - their nation-wide employer (healthcare sector) DOES NOT offer any health insurance benefits.
I more mean making public access to NHS dentistry a realistic to access thing again. It's pretty much all private sector there anyway at the moment which probably should be reversed
This dental program started from the agreement between the former liberal government and the New Democrats. The liberals needed the New Democrats to prop them up. The New Democrats insisted on dental care.
Every important social program enjoyed by Canadians has been implemented by liberals. What have cons done other than making corporations and the rich richer?
I believe most social programs have been created because of minority governments. If the libs want to stay in power they have to play nice with others.
NDP do not have official party status anymore. The CCRAP reform party is far too radical and not interested in putting the needs of Canadians first. I predict another tax payer dollar wasting election in our near future.
Sadly I probably agree. Also I frustratingly think Poilievre will win next time. Voters want change and protection from trump. The cons and smith and Moe will do whatever to scuttle any chances of this and then say libs/carney isn’t delivering. That’s why majority is so important.
It will cover, for example the co-pay you may have from a primary policy, a treatment that is not included under your primary policy or any other dental cost as secondary coverage!
idk man we're used to things being shit on this island but the nhs dental care has been collapsing in on itself for a decade and successive govts have just gone "lol, lmao"
The thing that looks so bleak is having Labour just completely fold when they are supposed to be the saviour party. US Democrats have many Starmerites within them, which led to many of the Biden failures, but we have a path to pushing them out and winning. The UK does not have that path rn.
America is a such a crap hole country..mwe have people who haven't seen a dentist in 10 years voting for a billion cutting taxes for billionaires while they cut their existing healthcare....we have an enormous problem of education and civic responsibiity to understand issues made worse by fox news
How ‘bout working on covering more of the fee for seniors? I’ll be stuck with a $3K copay from dentists ON TOP of my 100% dental benefit coverage. Guess what? I can’t pay it, so I’ll lose my housing.
Has anyone heard about Donald Trump's new biggest executive order he's going to legalize child molestation as well as child molestation this is disgusting of president
Now we get to watch Canada get what we could’ve had, and drool, envious, but it’s well deserved.
You guys get dental care, we get the fluoride taken out of our water so we can get cavities.
Except of you are an Albertan because Danielle 'do what I want or I will try to seperate on land that doesn't belong to Alberta' Smith says we can't anything from the feds...
Luckily not true! I’ve had this coverage for like a year and it’s separate from the provincial government. You apply through Service Canada and the coverage is delivered by Sun Life (iirc). Smith is a scumbag but she thankfully can’t do anything about this.
Eyes and teeth aren’t included. I mean, if your eye is injured or diseased, they’ll treat it. But if you need glasses to see out of that eye, it’s on you to buy them.
Insurance companies are pissed now. They sell that coverage to whoever can afford the policy. And SunLife bailed on the government's paid in coverage to Canada Life. What's the plan now SL? We're you banking on a Conservative government killing any social help for Canadians?
Donny Two Dolls says we don't need teeth after he's exterminated most of us and taken our property for his resorts and the exclusive compound nations his rich friends seek to build.
Don't need them for the six month diet of cabbage broth--just enough to get a few months of labor out of us before we become more expense than profit.
Yes, that is exactly how the NAZIs calculated their broth distribution.
and a huge thank you to Jagmeet Singh and Justin Trudeau & all others who voted for this
huge thank you to Holland & now Carney
for expanding it
dentist for all
i believe that Pierre Poilievre and all Reform voted against this & against pharma care

South of the Canadian border,
I got news today my dental bill will be upwards of $10,000.
My mother's advice to me - always buy good shoes and take care of your teeth.
He told me it was cheaper to get it done in Belgium than at home.🙄
Having said that, it definitely helps a lot. 👍
Unlike the fucking USA, who fucked this up twice.
It may have value even as a political stunt in US domestic politics

An accomplice, one could argue.
? 🙄 ?
How to un-brainwash my family?
I will ask my dentist.
Even if they eventually benefit, they feel about #LPC the way I feel about #trump... I understand the feeling, but not the WHY, HOW????
At the very least, regular cleanings and basic fillings should be considered healthcare. ❤️
Canada is a much better picker than we are.
Though it is better for all of us if they improve their health so they don't have worse health outcomes and put unnecessary pressure on our system.
Them leaving would improve the health of the rest of us!
It’s clear to me which country is the better one.
And to think that Trump’s little Nazi minion wants to force “love of country” onto schoolchildren. Fuck that.
Were you trying to make a point?
I'll take a government REQUIRED to protect my health; a system needing renovation & innovation to deal with aging boomer #'s, pandemics etc
OVER
US style medical/dental...er.."Independence" absolutely ANY day whatsoever! 😬
Y'all reacquainting w coat hangers & Kevorkian machines (not to mention a psycho cosplaying doctor running the entire medical complex 😬)
We're still WAY ahead & happy to be🙄
I honestly thought he wouldn’t expand it because we have to spend money on so many other things
Great program
Mother f?!!kr😁

DENTAL PLAN
Easy enough to fix with laws and regulations, but we have a problem with that in this country.
It’s not like the old days.
Hang in there!
🇨🇦🍁
That won't frigging help
I mean, hell yeah, but our military is decimated, and nothing is free.
However, we know the answer to if he will expand it: yes. That's on him, not anyone else.
I'm glad I voted for Team Liberal!
It will cover, for example the co-pay you may have from a primary policy, a treatment that is not included under your primary policy or any other dental cost as secondary coverage!
Suddenly wishing I had a less complicated relationship with the US justice system than I do a whole lot more than I did yesterday
This is the first step in slapping their greedy little hands and getting them back in line.
Enough with the "luxury bones".
I paid $5000 past two years ago for a root canal and crown…with insurance.
no commitment for these expansions
no commitment to those in provinces not yet signed on
no commitment to renew when agreements with provinces expire
So many people do not have insurance.
Thanks NDP LIB.
You guys get dental care, we get the fluoride taken out of our water so we can get cavities.
40% of my earnings gone in taxes...
@mark-carney.bsky.social don't make us regret our vote!
bye Bloc with your divisive politics, à plus
