TEDx doesn’t want you to see this. My talk is finally online. But I’m fuming—they edited out any “problematic” content! There was waaaay more action, and even some nudity. So I’m posting what they cut. Enjoy, the check out the whole thing here: youtu.be/wc5QhMhoc9w?...

Bluesky loves links! We don't downrank, and major publishers report that we're sending more link traffic than other sites. Here's the top links shared on Bluesky, updated hourly. theblue.report/week/

This guy has campaigned on UBI for ten years now. He knew exactly what was coming, and had a rational way forward that would keep big companies in check and let everyone reap the benefits of AI. He was written off as a tech bro. 🤷‍♂️

A bit of Europe hope for the weekend. Germans can listen now to Ep. 148 of THIS IS MEDIA NOW wherever you get your podcasts: thisismedianow.podigee.io/150-new-epis... We talk about @storybookstudios.ai, the film industry in the age of AI, and why we in Germany are FAR from being left behind.

There is no horse. Want to know how we did these live-action / AI hybrid VFX? Check out the full tutorial on the Curious Refuge YouTube channel! youtu.be/rpEKSa8LPrE?...

As I continue to experiment with AI tools to help me write, they *are* becoming amazingly good. Astoundingly so. And people who say that they're terrible have no idea what they're talking about. But the thing I'm learning: they now are making me LESS efficient as a writer... (explanation below).

Silver lining: Europe became a Union yesterday. 🇪🇺

Film students need to see this. I spent an afternoon with a friend and a camera in the park. No horse, no mountains, campfire or explosives. And yet, with a touch of AI VFX… #genai #kling #runwayml #sdxl

You can really tell how inefficient Adobe software is once you start running local Gen AI. Really, Photoshop? You need ten minutes to crop a batch of 300 pics the same way?

This is everything a filmmaker can hope for. Thank you all! As the writer/director of the first series in our new AI storytelling format PREVIOUSLY ON, I'm especially excited that we've moved just enough across the Uncanny Valley that viewers can truly focus on the story. That feels awesome!

Spent the last few weeks making a whole season of TV with AI - enjoy episode one!

Last week, our producer showed an upcoming project at a conference. It went well, but one criticism was “I can still tell which shots were AI.” They were all AI. Happy Tuesday!

AI bias is when a popular image generator knows the difference between a cypress and a Monterey cypress, but cannot create an older black woman in uniform.

As a writer, I wanted to understand my characters as deeply as possible. But now, AI can do it for me! By simply viewing an image of my character, Google's Vision API fully analyzes his innermost beliefs! Perfect for digging into what drives a real human…/s

Would you have imagined a year ago that we’d be here today? AI is opening doors to creativity we never imagined. At Storybook Studios, we’ve been exploring how this technology can shape narratives across a variety of genres. Take a look! ➡️ youtu.be/WyTHxAahYZ0?... @butchersbrain.bsky.social

In a dystopian future, a lone man wakes up from cryogenic sleep in a decaying, futuristic environment and is tasked with a suicidal mission to destroy the barrier trapping the planet. Watch our award-winning Shortfilm, directed by @tobiasmhuber.com ➡️ www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bpwb...

Part II of my curated list of AI movies with "beautiful" storytelling. "Beautiful" in the sense that the storytelling deserves recognition and applause because it is heartfelt, exciting, funny, dark, complex, or just plain beautiful.

This is Dreams Burger. A fun holiday project between Guy Lewis and myself. As lot of A.I short films get lost in the visual sheen, we wanted to challenge ourselves to use the tools to build a twisty narrative. The result, we think, is weird, in a good way. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jl8...

Me: Oh no that trolley is going to run us over! Guy tied up on the track next to me who somehow thinks he's actually the guy holding the lever: Lol cry more 😂

Wir leben in einer (medialen) Realität, in der die Existenz unserer Spezies auf dem Planeten (und unsere Lieferketten, Wirtschaft, Frieden und Nahrungssicherheit) als Thema AUS DER MODE kommen können.

The internet ruined America, and perhaps the world. As someone who’s spent their life in technology I was optimistic that technology would change the world for better and be a net positive for society. Truth is, it’s not a net positive. It’s becoming detrimental in every conceivable way.

On TNG era Star Treks, they did stars outside windows using folded-up bits of foil/mylar glued onto black duvetyne, reflecting a bright light. I always thought it'd be fun to simulate it in CG for that very specific vibe and.. it kinda works.

New from 404 Media: hundreds of subreddits, including some of the most popular, are considering banning all links/content/screenshots from X/Twitter. r/NFL, r/hockey, r/baseball, r/nba, r/formula1, r/ComicBookMovies, r/MadeMeSmile, so many more. Some already have. www.404media.co/hundreds-of-...

Here's the first of probably periodic warnings to remind yourself that the "firehose of falsehoods" disinformation tactic is about to go into full swing. You do not need to watch the news to bear witness. You do not need to watch hideous videos of violence. They will be circulated to keep you upset

Hi @nytimes.com can you guess the meaning of the hand gesture I am making right now

The American refugee system, which Trump is dismantling, was put into place in response to America’s shameful failure to provide refuge to Jews persecuted by Hitler

I see the mask is off completely now

Teaching an ethics class next semester and this is genuinely a wild time to discuss personal ethics and moral reasoning.

💯

Spouse and I were just talking about how we learned how to identify propaganda in school, for no reason at all. We're not that old.

My online life got so much better when I realized that a) I didn't have to attend every argument that I was invited to b) blocking was self-care, not weakness

One thing the TikTok ban discourse has not included is that many TikTok creators privately do not like TikTok, which of course they’re not saying because none of us want it banned. It’s a brutal creative ecosystem that extracts from creators until they burnout and then they are replaced.
