Three fucking years, and the future is direr than ever. But one day, Ukraine will be a free and prosperous country, where happy children don't know the sound of air raid sirens and their parents are alive, and well, and kiss them good night every

I have a whole theory on the inertia of organizations and how it can both save the org, but also mislead leadership into thinking <whatever> is working. And short story is that things can be incredibly resilient if they are heathy, and shockingly brittle if they are not. 🧵

Good morning to this man, and this man only #bbcqt

My co-worker is the perfect example for why working from home is not sustainable. He slept through the entire afternoon!

"I am on a night train from Kyiv, bound for Zaporizhzhia, a city in the southeast of Ukraine which is about twenty miles from the front... As I get ready to go to sleep, I find myself thinking that Americans are also speeding towards a line." snyder.substack.com/p/crossing-a...

Trying to pay more mindful attention to the little beautiful things in life. Good morning my fellow humans!

"This is the problem with vocational awe: it teaches workers that because their work matters — because it is meaningful in some way — that they have to do whatever it takes to deliver." @saraannmarie.bsky.social - incredible. medium.com/nice-work-fr...

A "normal" conversation of two "real" persons on LinkedIn. 🤦‍♂️

Obviously, I'm not the only one thinking about this. The list contains way more alternatives than I was aware of. european-alternatives.eu/categories

Considering what's currently happening in the US and how much trust has been destroyed in just a few weeks, what would be our backup plan if MS, Google, AWS, and others were forced to impose tariffs on their digital offerings? I'm not aware of any real European alternatives for their products.

@jimacosta.bsky.social confirms he will exit CNN after nearly two decades with the network, as we first reported last night in @status.news: "It is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant," Acosta said.

This was long overdue.

Blogged: the paradox of being a decent person I feel that indecent people are growing in number, yet I don’t know what we can do about that without also descending into the realm of indecency. This creates a paradox if you care about being (or being perceived as) a decent person.

"...a plan to burn the world for the profits of the few". A chilling new read by @timothysnyder.bsky.social open.substack.com/pub/snyder/p...

One thing I always try to remind myself when I'm not "satisfied" with the performance of someone I'm working with, is that almost everyone has some shit to deal with at any given point in time that I know nothing about.

That feeling of slight sadness and emptiness after going live with a project you were working on nights and weekends for the past weeks and months.

Excellent guide on writing useful error messages: * Use the correct status codes * Be descriptive * Be helpful * Provide elaborative information * Be empathetic Read the full article for some examples:

Is today Black Friday? (Or, as it's known round these parts, "Finding Out What Their Actual Markup Is Day")

Can absolutely confirm this. It's an ongoing struggle for me, I have a "unread message badge intolerance" condition :).

You know the "🔹AI Overview" you get on Google Search? I discovered today that it's repeating as fact something I made up 7 years ago as a joke. "Kyloren syndrome" is a fictional disease I invented as part of a sting operation to prove that you can publish any nonsense in predatory journals...

Amazon’s CTO shared the @pragmaticengineer.com architecture deepdive about Bluesky. If he’s reading it then if you’re a dev, and here on Bluesky, it could be an interesting read: (Also, I if you are interested in e.g. software architecture, @werner.social should be a solid follow here!)

'A phantom political force was born: oligarchical money + psychographic information about individuals + social media delivery system + demotivational message.' Absolutely spot on from @timothysnyder.bsky.social snyder.substack.com/p/the-phanto...

It's very hard to stay optimistic these days.

Looking forward to a great day with interesting people at the Global Day Of Code Retreat 2024 in Karlsruhe, Germany.

Timothy Snyder's explanation of why a strongman always leads to dictatorship and is worse for all, except the strongman and his clan. This is so obvious, and still there are so many people considering it a solution to all problems our democracies have. open.substack.com/pub/snyder/p...

It’s going to be a great day with great people at the Global Software Architecture Summit in Barcelona!

Ok, so apparently it's time to start moving completely.
