Life is now fully imitating art

That record’s actually coming up in my top 20 too. “First Glimmer” gives me chills every time. And has there been a more interesting title than “Dice Behind Your Shades” to describe someone adrift from their true self?

When enough people that I do not know personally like the music enough to where they’re willing to contribute some of their hard-earned money so that I can make the next record without tapping into my own resources.

I’d love to see AI try to generate the cliff notes version for the entire federal workforce 🤣. It may need to provide stick figures 🤷♂️

A number of yrs ago, I wrote a song called “Wrong End of Goodbye”; a title I was proud of. Then a year l8r I walked through Newark airport & saw a book called “Wrong Side of Goodbye,” by Michael Connelly; part of the Bosch series. I was like, “son of a😤🤯!!” Then yrs l8r I became a fan of the show 😆

Someone's knocking on the door
Somebody's ringing their bell
Someone’s pants are on the floor
Somebody's starting to yell
Do me a favor
Close the door and let 'em screw, yeah, let 'em screw

As you wish. I would say this about it: I could never in 100 yrs see myself using it to generate the “seed.” That is the atom from which fission occurs. I don’t even know how it could do that. But from there, the entire process amounts to a constant narrowing designed to mold your ideas to form

When I see words in a rhyming dictionary that I had yet to think of, is the dictionary not suggesting something to me? I mean, I still make the decision on what gets included and what doesn’t. The effect of which will steer the song’s narrative as well as what it evokes.

When it comes to lyric writing - which is what my original post was about - lyric in popular song involves meter & rhyme. In the past, I’d consult a rhyme dictionary or thesaurus. Does their inclusion disqualify the creation from being “art?” Or are you looking to give further shape to your work?

How many studio FX, now widely available in stompboxes & modelers, were happy accidents or result of engineers/artists tinkering w/ the outboard gear of their day? (i.e. fuzz & reverse delay). Is it sacrilege 2 use their replications in art’s creation? They’re just tools to get u there faster

It would be a fool’s errand to rely on it 100% & in that case, you’d be correct. There is still a lot of hard work & soul searching that has to accompany it for its assistance to be effective & not let it do the heavy lifting. But the conversation is not different than what I’d have w/ any cowriter

They are my ideas…I take them to the LLM & essentially share all of my thoughts on a topic/lines I’ve come up with & directions it could go so that I can get closer to the heart of what I’m seeking to express. It’s a constant dialogue that I steer. I could show u the convos & u can decide

Yes in the film they did say it was Eddie Kramer; who also worked with Hendrix among others

It’s provided a tremendous creative spark for me. Often times it’ll suggest something that makes me think of something else altogether & then I’ll follow that train of thought until I have molded the outline of my idea into what becomes a finished work.

I’ve been using Claude to assist in lyric writing & have found it to be the single best tool I’ve ever had for that @ my disposal. I don’t ever use any auto generated lines, but keep a constant dialogue w/ it, seeking ideas around line lengths & syllabic stress, word choice around certain feelings

I’ve been using @anthropic.com’s Claude for assistance in lyric writing and it’s been nothing short of a revelation. I don’t use it to spit out actual lines, but rather I steer it toward line lengths & stressed syllables & find alternative words at times. It’s just like having a seasoned co-writer

& I’d say to those that believe they don’t have the room in their domicile to house a healthy record collection; just remember the more the big tech broligarchy can stuff into small devices, the more they can tell u you don’t need any add’l space, & our plots of land shrink while theirs grow larger.

The pleasing visual aesthetics that vinyl has to offer allow it to draw you toward the magic of its contents & thereby more quickly lead to you spiritual enrichment. Kids do not discover a love of music through a cell phone - they discover it through exploration of mom & dad’s record collection.

I’m not gonna lie: I found it a bit underwhelming for a rock doc. First 40 minutes were great but kind of flatlined from there and was a very safe trip down memory lane. Hopefully there’s a follow-up where they go into the records beyond Zep II

It was an amazing show. The “Blackberry Winter” performance was worth the price of admission alone
