Real Genius was a formative movie for me. The best movie about physics and physicists is a raunchy 80’s comedy. RIP Val

One of those "I bought this before Elon went crazy" stickers but for your Columbia diploma

I think punditry would be a lot healthier if people made the case for their policies and position on the merits first rather than framing everything they advocate for as a good electoral strategy. 90% of the time, it's what they support on the merits, so just make that case.

We have had nearly two decades of panic about Free Speech on Campus and not a single case, not even the ones they made up, were as bad as what's happening now

Yes. If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.

Sort of funny that an administration obsessed with cost-cuts wants to expand Guantanamo. It’s by far the most expensive prison in the world, costing *13 million* per detainee *per year*.

@michaelhobbes.bsky.social ah shit. I’m the guy who reinstated your Wikipedia entry after it was deleted for not being notable enough. Sorry!

It doesn’t make sense for the tech market to fall because of a Chinese AI competitor. What makes more sense is that some people learned about the upcoming tariffs to Taiwan a day early.

Last night I had a dream that involved the existence of “The Thin Green Line,” which was somehow like Terrence Malick’s take on The Grinch.

Democrats will often look at something that doesn’t poll well and think “oh no, better move away from that!” but they’re getting their role backwards. parties influence public opinion. if you’re purely reactive, you’re just letting the GOP frame every debate.
