New Countercurrent Album out today! Get it on bandcamp, or streaming if that's your thing!

There are a lot of people on here smugly telling people that protests don't work, that boycotts are pointless. These people are part of the problem, not the solution. Taking action, even at the most base level, as opposed to only calling reps, or posting, is a highly effective form of engagement.

Today's the day — economic boycott. If you can manage it, try to only buy essentials for a while, & avoid buying from big companies...

New song out today!

Hey NYTimes — *now* you’re lighting the beacons? NOW?!? After months of “Sauron: Avatar Of Evil… Or Extreme Uniter?” thumbsucker reporting you’re screaming what we’ve known since 2015? Fuck all the way off.

My band, Countercurrent, has a brand new record up for pre-order! You can find it at www.countercurrentmusic.bandcamp.com/album/flow

This tweet cracked me the fuck up until 5 minutes later when I found out it was factual

There appear to be at least three separately operating heel factions breaking things within the government in wholly different ways right now. There's the Miller-headed immigration one, the DOGE/Elon one, and a Project 2025 OMB one. This dynamic hasn't showed up in mainstream reporting at all.

I keep getting texts and messages asking me why most Democrats have rolled over and played dead. I’m as baffled as everyone else. They’re not going to gain anything by being quiet or becoming MAGA Lite. All they’re doing is making sure they share the blame when this all goes south.

@alexsturbaum.com and I have been dreaming up a folk music festival, welcoming to all, that’s designed to uplift trans and gender non-conforming talent in traditional music. We have a venue, we have a lineup (TBA soon!), and now we want to spread the word! Our website is transtradfest.org

hot take: the mariner's revenge song is wagon wheel for accordion players

I came onto Bluesky an hour ago, and the first two things I saw were posts providing useful context for understanding the imposition of martial law in South Korea—the exact kind of thing that Twitter used to be so useful for in a developing crisis.

everyone has to stop doom spiraling, shit is going to be bad enough without preemptively getting so terrified you freeze up

"If a woman doesn't look woman enough to a Republican, they want to be able to inspect your genitals to use a bathroom? It's disgusting. Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC

Sure playing Irish Trad tunes is fun but accompanying? Hooo boy. Loved this one by @alexsturbaum.com so much I had to jump in on it!

Here's a little reel I wrote last year called Expect Resistance (as in, respect my existence or expect my resistance). Felt timely to share it with the world; hope y'all like it.

Back in Washington after a magical weekend playing for Catalina Contra Dance Weekend. Played some accordion and saw some whales on the ferry ride back to the airport. I'm the luckiest person I know. Photo credit: Elizabeth Monica

fascism is stopped when enough people say one of two things: 1) "nah, I'm not doing that" 2) "nah, you're not doing that" a lot of people want to imagine how they'll say the second thing, but you should *really* start practicing the first one

The thing that really differentiates Bluesky is that it doesn’t feel like it was designed by a bunch of people who will lose their jobs if I spend a little less time on Bluesky.

Owing to circumstances I will be playing a contra dance aboard the Queen Mary tonight. Life is cool sometimes.

There are 206 bones in the human body, which is way too many. My administration will cut this down to 100 bones

Introducing myself since I've just joined this platform! I'm a contra dance musician, folk singer, songwriter, and performer based in Olympia, WA. Member of Countercurrent and The Engine Room. Proudly queer and nonbinary. Here to rip some good tunes and to fight for a better world.

Hey y'all. I guess I'm on here now?
