Teachers teach. We need a leaderful movement, and there are leaders all around us.

It would really help if the cisses spoke up for us! If nothing else, it helps with court challenges.

Protests are taking place all over the country tonight against cuts to vital federal services. Here in Washington, people are marching to SpaceX’s offices demanding Musk be ousted from the government.

TOMORROW (WED): Rallies are being held across the country to protest the funding cuts to science and the illegal firing of federal workers. Please join if you can. We need to show that many people oppose these destructive attacks on science and healthcare. Details: labor4highered.org

After Trump’s executive order laying off federal employees last week, Haskell Indian Nations University lost almost a third of its staff, leaving students without teachers.

Union Square anti-Trump rally is on the move.

If you live in NY State & want something concrete to do, call Gov. Hochul's office right now & leave a message saying (as calmly as you can, so as to get your message heard) that it's in her power to stand up to Trump by firing the mayor & that you as her constituent are watching what she does next.

Only takes a minute to send an email if you’re furious.

TODAY!

The Reverend Dr. William Barber II was in action & had a big march & rally of civil servants protesting Elon's coup. They had thousands in the streets. Don't say nobody's doing anything just because democratic politicians aren't, just join the fight where you are. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8k6X...

Tesla's stock is ridiculously overvalued, and even a modest consumer boycott could tank the company, which accounts for the majority of Elon Musk's wealth. The divestment movement weakened apartheid South Africa. Let's do that again. slate.com/business/202...

If you are in or near Washington DC, this is the place to be. Tomorrow/Monday.

Peeps who are in DC or willing/able to get to DC on Wednesday: There's gonna be a rally opposing the Trump Admin's push to dismantle the Department of Education -- deets below

Help me understand why anyone would file their taxes in an environment like this?

If you’re a federal employee, you should know this is a lie. Congress hasn’t appropriated these monies and so it’s literally not there to be spent. Also, federal agencies are limited by law to a max $25K payout in the case of restructuring.

Preach!

🧵 THREAD: Our reporter spent the past year reporting inside the State Department, trying to answer the central question of Biden’s foreign policy: How did the U.S. let Israel get away with widespread horrors in Gaza?

Novelist Jervey Tervalon lost his house in the Eaton fire. He’s a talented writer (recently a Best American contributor) and a good dude with a) health issues affecting his ability to work and b) no fire insurance. Here’s his GoFundMe, organized by his daughters: www.gofundme.com/f/help-jerve....

One of my fave 2024 books by one of my fave people. Highly recommend both Alison’s novels if you haven’t read!!!! 💯

A quick year in review / introduction for folks who aren’t too familiar with my work. In 2024 I published my second novel, APRIL MAY JUNE JULY, a family story about 4 estranged siblings brought together again by a wedding and the mystery of their missing father.

Another book by Abby Thomas. Lucky us.
