a trick to improve readability of 3D worlds: add a post process based on depth to differentiate background planes with a gradient you can easily read foreground (no tint), midground (white tint) and background (darkblue tint)

Taking the new animations for a spin. It is just a pose system. But, the important part is, that it mirrors all poses (which was a problem in the animator) and I can keep variations in one place and don’t have to stay on top of NLA strips. Bit overkill, but it was fun to make.

I missed a bug that I introduced later and stared at it for so long, I forgot that I got it right in the first place πŸ’© Setup for all the grabs with tweaked versions. I have to make them look good in the game still, but they should now work in both stances.

Ugh, now 152 facists will sit in the parliament for the next 4 years and do nothing but wait for things to go sour. Better than them having any power, but this is still bad.

It works! I can now set up the poses for the grabs inside the editor and toggle the tweaked and switched variants while the animation rig moves the bones around. Poses get save in a scriptable object. Animating it is still finicky, but this can be improved. #indiedev

First try with making the carving animation procedural. I need to come up with some better ways to blend between multiple points and thereβ€˜s some weirdness from the animator. But, I like where it is going. #indiedev

So, I guess Iβ€˜m making procedural animations now? The nice thing about it is, I can make sure the hands are always where they are supposed to be. The animation blending always had a little bit of moving around to it. Also, I could add all kinds of little offsets to it, to add more life to it.

I currently have the motivation to do fairly borring tasks. Making the menus functional with keyboard / gamepad input πŸ™ˆ

A little prototype for a skate dungeon crawl deck builder thingy I made a while ago. This is something I would like to go back to at some point with what I learned from the snowboard game. Still need an idea for a combar system or some goal for the dungeon.

I think I fixed a bug … by accident!? Doing a bit of refactoring and my combo display just started working as I want it to 😸

Been chopping away some small but annoying bugs, cleaned up the ui a little and worked on the general flow of the whole thing. Also added configurable controls. Still relying on the loading screen a little too much to hide some seams, but it feels nicer that way. #indiedev

What is a good way to have the functionality of a second analog stick on a keyboard? On the gamepad I use the right stick for grab selection in 8 directions so the hand position on the board roughly matches where the stick is. Using wasd and arrows on the keyboard seems kinda weird?
