This Black History Month, we honor African American dermatologists who paved the way for skin health research. By supporting diverse voices in dermatology, we accelerate scientific discovery and improve outcomes for all melanoma patients. #BlackHistoryMonth #HealthEquality

Annnddddd, yet another boil water order. Entire east bank this time. Blech. swbno.org/news/boilwater

Just days after Trump returned to the White House, Instagram is censoring abortion content. This is what Aid Access' account looks like right now - posts about how to get abortion medication has been blurred out.

"The stars are better off without us."

It is not "hard," it is unconstitutional.

One of the problems stemming from the combination of there being so few Jews and the conflation of Jews with Israel and Zionists is that I'm already seeing "why won't the Jews condemn Musk?" posts. THE ADL AND ZIONISTS DON'T SPEAK FOR US. Assuming otherwise does their work for them.

I love this so much! At the inauguration, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wore a distinctive collar adorned with cowrie shells, which are believed to offer protection from evil in African traditions. This choice mirrors the late Justice Ginsburg’s practice of using collars to convey a message.

Are you fucking kidding me with this, WaPo? So glad I quit my 20 year subscription after the Buzbee incident.

The number of people telling me Jews need to see the vile images going around today because “too many Jewish people support Trump” are just antisemitic pieces of shit. EIGHTY EIGHT percent of Jewish women voted for Kamala. SEVENTY NINE percent of all Jews. Who the fuck are you talking to?

How is the PR statement somehow even more offensive than the act it is mind-boggling telling us to have "grace" for? Disgusting.

Glad at least one freaking not horrible thing happened today.

EIGHT TO NINE INCHES??!!

I’m in Los Angeles in the middle of disaster. It feels the same way it did 20 years ago in New Orleans. The lesson learned from back then & today: love those around you and create loving memories. They will sustain you in difficult times.Tragedy is defined by how you respond to it.

If you track maternal mortality along every metric, health insurance, weight, blood pressure, diabetes, location, education, employment, a Black woman and a white woman whose lives look identical on paper will still have a 300% disparity in maternal mortality.

Wonderful story about generous human beings! www.npr.org/2025/01/10/n...

My thoughts are with the huge number of people affected by the LA wildfires. Look for the helpers. Here are a few. Providing shelter and support: www.redcross.org/about-us/our... Providing food: wck.org/relief/calif... Helping Animals: give.pasadenahumane.org/give/654134/...

Going out on a limb and predicting we’re not gonna get a tsunami of chinstroking essays by East Coast intellectuals asking “Should we rebuild the Pacific Palisades?”

Our current political state, the New Orleans attack, the LA fires, personal news. I haven’t felt like This since the weeks following Katrina. Despair and Hope are equally useless, but Hope through Action is a path forward. We found each other on our blogs; let’s do it again here. We have each other.

I have never needed to read something more in my life than this thread - and if you're seeing this, you need to read it too!

I don't even know what to say to this.
