Yippee Ky-yay. Git along little DOGEy.

“I do this work because the kids in the Black Belt, some who don’t have running water at home, their hope is in education. I do this for the kids who reside at Children’s Hospital...They still have a right to an education because education is the hope for a better future.” www.al.com/educationlab...

Shoutout to the dozens of Montana Indivisibles who didn’t let the weather stop them from demanding answers from their GOP representative! This congressional recess is almost over, but you can still help turn up the heat on your representative to stop the Trump-Musk coup: indivisible.org/muskorus

Something tells me they don't care about safety.

This is a solidly red district in Georgia. Republicans are really starting to feel the pressure — let’s keep turning up the heat. Your representatives are back home for congressional recess and we’ve got events planned around the country (including Tesla dealerships). LFG: indivisible.org/muskorus

Trump “peace plan” stabs Ukraine in the back

Each week, The Contrarian selects an "Undaunted" individual working to defend democracy This week's spotlight: Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear At a time when Dems need strong & effective voices to reach Americans, Beshear provides a powerful example of successful governance & strategic rhetoric.

“Why does the world’s richest man, now serving as the de facto president of the United States, care about a single judicial election in a state that is home to less than 2% of the U.S. population?...the answer can be summed up in the form of his biggest fear: accountability.” New from Ben Wikler

here is the thing about the “argument” that democrats should have run roughshod over the law when they had the chance: it is much easier to break the law to destroy a program than break the law to create one.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Governor Mills doesn’t suffer fools lightly, and it appears she has even less tolerance for bullies. (And as a former attorney general, she knows what she’s talking about.)

The latest Democracy Index from @joycewhitevance.bsky.social tracks the escalating threats to democracy This week's top-lines: ‣ Trump declares himself “king” ‣ DOJ's threats of retribution ‣ Mass firings at FAA, FDA, & CDC threatens lives ‣ WH threatens press access

Trump and Musk want to rob Americans blind. Rep. Joe Neguse and Jen Rubin discuss the proposed $800 billion budget cut—targeting nearly all social safety new programs.

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

This is how it’s done.

“Freedom of speech for me and not for thee,” sounds like something a king would say. As many of us have noted this week, we don’t do kings in America. Some thoughts on the AP’s lawsuit: open.substack.com/pub/jimacost...

Stop the steal — President Musk and Kennedy Center chairman Trump are robbing the American people.

Republicans want to pass a bill that would disenfranchise someone you know. The SAVE Act is the GOP’s attempt at mass voter suppression disguised as an election integrity bill — and we need to get loud to stop it: indivisibleteam.medium.com/maga-has-a-b...

VERY important we stop the SAVE act.

BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: While the Trump Justice Department is telling a federal court that Elon Musk has nothing to do with DOGE, Republican members of Congress are telling their constituents that DOGE is “led by Elon Musk.” See below 👇

The Trump presidency is a threat to the well being of the American people.

Well now.

Here in Illinois, ten years ago we saw the consequences of a rampant ideological gutting of government. It genuinely harmed people. Our citizens hated it. Trust me – I was elected based in part on just how much they hated it.

“President Zelenskyy is the democratically elected leader of a sovereign country who is bravely standing against the illegal invasion of Ukraine by a murderous ACTUAL dictator called Vladimir Putin”

Trump lies about everything. Everything. He tweeted that Zelenskyy did not meet with Bessent. Who are these two people then?

"Zelenskyy’s latest address highlights Ukraine’s resilience and calls for global unity against aggression. He honours the bravery of soldiers defending freedom, urges more military aid, and stresses the need for humanitarian support. His message: Ukraine’s fight is a stand for global peace

Support Ukraine by pressuring your republican representatives to do something instead of bend over for our Russian-tied "president" Trump has implied that it's Zelenskyy who is the dictator... and doesn't want Ukraine at the table for peace talks. Say something! www.senate.gov/senators/sen...

Who is the dictator? Trump: "I have an Article II, where I have the right to do whatever I want as president." Zelenskyy: "I do not want my picture in your offices. Hang your kids' photos instead, and look at them each time you make a decision." Who truly serves the people, who serves themselves?

May their memories be a blessing. 🇮🇱

NIH layoffs. FAA layoffs. FDA layoffs. USAID dismantled. America isn’t just losing workers—it’s losing safety, science & stability. Jen Rubin argues the sooner Americans grasp the damage, the sooner Republicans feel the heat. Ignore it, and they’ll face a voter backlash.

“Our predecessors deposed a brain-addled king; they crushed the violent insurrectionists of a slaveholding confederacy; they kicked the Nazis’ asses throughout Europe.” “No entitled reality-TV has-been backed by an addle-brained billionaire who cheats at video games is going to roll over us now.”

hey @mattyglesias.bsky.social, the piece that you link to here — my piece — does not say that “all DEI critics want to reimpose segregation” and i would appreciate it if you didn’t lie to your audience about what my work says.

We don’t have the luxury of sitting these fights out. The stakes are too high. 👇

I don't think the Dems can stop the firings. But why aren't they proposing legislation that assures those that took the buyout get paid , and that all that are fired, get at least a year severance and health benefits? And any one with a health condition is covered the entire time they are sick?

Of course. But being the party standing up for those fired will mean a lot to those fired and their families. It will also show the country that they are trying to bring order to chaos. And if they can get any Republican support at all, that's huge leverage for March 14

The work of @joshcowenmsu.bsky.social is key to understanding the voucher issue:

gravedigger of american democracy. a more malign influence than john c calhoun.

Adam Kinzinger, one of two Republican members on the Jan. 6 Committee, isn't afraid of Trump—and neither are we.

Rarely has so much ignorance & ahistorical BS been crammed into a single tweet. I know JD Vance & Donald Trump are busy surrendering to a KGB butcher, abandoning the cause of freedom, & destroying the security of America & her allies, but they'd do well to spend some time actually studying history.

Legislation recognizing the Gulf of America in Alabama advanced out of a House committee on Wednesday. Democratic lawmakers called it a "waste of time." www.al.com/news/2025/02...

fantasizing about a world where an opposition congress responds to trump’s attempts to usurp legislative power by defunding the entire white house staff

🚨 Elon Musk is trying to buy another election. The Wisconsin Supreme Court race is just over a month away, and Musk will spend over half a million dollars to support a MAGA extremist who wants to enforce a 175-year-old abortion ban. We can't match Musk's money but we have the power of the people. 🧵

What a shame. Teamsters deserve better than this.

Amazing reactions from European leaders supporting Zelenskyy on Xitter. #NAFO #Fellas Fuck Trump🤡 He is just jealous that Zelenskyy is married to a woman who loves him.

🇺🇸🇺🇦President Zelenskyy: I spoke with U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. We greatly appreciate the bicameral and bipartisan support of the US Congress to the Ukrainian people in our fight against the Russian aggression.

Trump tells Zelenskyy to “move fast” on peace talks—or risk losing Ukraine altogether. Meanwhile, the U.S. and Russia are negotiating without Ukraine at the table. Zelenskyy fires back: “We understand that [Trump’s rhetoric] is coming from Russia.” Is Trump pushing peace, or Putin’s playbook?
