Canadian here. Maybe the G7 is an idea that has run its course. Will your president be attending the upcoming one in Canada? He'll need special dispensation to enter my country. We don't usually allow convicted felons to enter.

The good news is hat Trump is 79.

It's the same here in Trenton ON but in some ways worse. We now have whole new neighbourhoods that are completely car dependent. All zoned single and townhouses with no provision for even a corner store. You can't really live there without a car.
comment in response to post
I think it is the same everywhere in Ontario right now. I wonder if, as a society, we are getting to the point where fewer cars and more public transit is the solution.

YOU DON"T UNDERSTAND. Those water bombers were deployed to California and California is one of those blue states. So that doesn't count because is California really part of the USA?

Here's the problem for me Tom. In my riding of Bay of Quinte the PC incumbent will probably win and the most credible alternative is OLP. Crombie is a conservative and I do believe that the NDP should form government but my best choice here is Liberal.

Or it might be that if you want to run for the leadership of a political and have the ability to raise the signatures and cash required then you can run. Maybe reality sets in and you realize that the initial 25K is refundable but everything after that will cost you a lot given that you can't win.

Somebody at the Tesla design shop thought it was a good idea.

I'm not sure I'd put this on the traditional media. We seem to be going through a period of instability where ordinary folk the world over are disappointed with their centrist governments. Promises made - but not delivered. The eventual reset to sanity usually involves major world conflicts.

Nuclear power works but is a very expensive alternative to renewables. The storage facility won’t come online until the 2040s. The timelines for anything new nuclear are just too long.

Works for me!

This is capitalism at its best. The better tech is going to win regardless of the supports for the fossil fuel legacy technologies. It’ll take longer in some places than in others. When can I get my 20K BYD?

I think the whole thing was a stupid and poorly conceived idea. The forgone revenue and vote buying exercise money could be put to better uses. You can actually make your thoughts known to the PMO and I did that. I'm a retiree and can live without the money but others can't. BTW, I vote LPC.

Sorry but you are wrong. The Sun is not fit to be used as a bird cage liner.

It's important to remember that Musk can close Twitter down for good, take the tax deduction and still be the richest man on Earth. He doesn't care. If ever there was a reason to get a grip on multi-billionaires...

Me.

But that's not the way it works in Canada. There is a process to be followed if a person wants MAID. Not all who apply qualify. What you call a smooth process is at the whim of the provider and denies the patient agency at the end of their life. Our process is not an illegal secret.

And that would be the coward's way of doing things. Works if your healthcare team is willing to go along with it and you can push the button. That approach would be similar to the grey area for abortion rights in a place like Texas. A back alley somewhere... End of life care demands respect

We have MAID in Canada. The assumption we all make is that we will live a healthy and happy life long into old age and finish off by dying in our sleep. That rarely happens. A friend fought ovarian cancer for 4 years and sought an assisted death at the end. She went a day early. She wasn’t in a rush

Yes, Paris Pate in the little blue cans.

This is an excellent approach. A multi use pathway was installed on one of the roads in my town to replace a sidewalk. It works well but this design allows you to pick the side of the street you ride on. I like this idea.

It does happen. If you live in Russia or China. But the emphasis is less on justice and more on redistributing wealth.

My wife is my book junkie. She buys them, get this, used.

It does sound like a good read. she's right about the moneyed class. The rules are set differently for them.

OK I guess. This is not something I'd worry about.

Using both right now. I’m waiting to see how this pace works over the next while.

Both!?

The among MPs is partisan advantage rather than working for the common good. AND the speaker need s to grow a backbone.

The Presidential pardon power makes for sad commentary on your country. There is always room for mercy and the rectification of wrongs. But surely there should be a process where a body presents a list to the President for consideration rather than allowing for Presidential fiat.

It looks like the Ford government in Ontario is going to face legal pushback on its decision to close supervised injection sites near schools. They aren't willing to follow the evidence.

Sadly that’s the way equipment was supplied to Ukraine from the very start. Just enough equipment and freedom to keep from getting overrun but not enough to win.

Does it really matter? I'm still on Twitter for awhile. I'll probably keep the account but figure out how to put it into hibernation.

Glad you're here. Yes it is.

Took your time. Glad you are here.

It'll take time. I'm spending more time here now but have been a silent member for months. Thanks Elon.

PP has only one objective and that objective is to become the next PM. What he does after he achieves his goal is anybody's guess. But whatever he does won't benefit the low income rubes who vote for his party.
comment in response to post
It’s not weird really. Trump wanted to become president to stay out of jail. PP wants to become PM because he wants to be PM. Neither cares about the people they are expected to serve.
comment in response to post
This is what Ford does. There is no research just a gut feel. And worst of all is that it affects residents like me directly in the pocketbook. Wait, that’s not the worst. His decision will probably be reversed later on and cost yet more money.

They are technically but I agree that they represent something of an embarrassment for their dear leader.
comment in response to post
I suppose it is unrealistic to expect a backbencher to put their 200K per year job at risk by standing up to the leader and his staff regardless of the party involved. Maybe party discipline has gone too far. Both the American and UK systems seem to offer their members more latitude.

Trump could have at least gone with a weekday host.

Hardly a revolt. But it is worthwhile noting that it's a MP's responsibility to advocate on behalf of their constituents especially when it comes to government funded programs. Local mayors must be frustrated beyond belief.

I’m keeping my Twitter account as well. My goal is to eventually reduce my presence there as I become more familiar with here.

In 1971 you could join the reserves as a 16 year old. I joined under the Student Summer Employment Program as a recruit with the Queen’s York Rangers. Why was he at the armoury and what else did he talk about? Who knows. I’m amazed he is still alive.
