Steven King is one of my favorite authors. If you like this book, I also recommend Under The Dome or Apt Pupil.

The Dark Tower series actually ties in many of Steven Kings'
novels. Including The Stand. I do believe that Mid-World in the Dark Tower is actually the same planet the stand takes place in. Just a later time.
