So damaging the relationship with your primary backer of military aid - perhaps permanently - in a vain attempt at 'humiliation' was actually part of the plan? Looks like it worked then, but I don't think that'll benefit Ukraine in defeating Russia. Which is presumably the ultimate goal here.

Yes, but again this is not something you litigate in front of a press pool, and especially not when you're sitting next to someone as volatile as Trump, the man he is seeking a security guarantee from.

Yes, Zelensky was absolutely correct when he pointed out Russia's treachery. This is something he should've said behind closed doors, not at the press pool.

I don't think Zelensky deserves praise for squandering what might be Ukraine's last chance to retain at least some US support. Zelensky was right in pointing out that Russia broke every peace deal it signed, but that's something you bring up behind closed doors, and not in front of the press pool.

Ofc Vance should've desisted when Zelensky challenged him, but Zelensky should know he's on thin ice with Trump, and that the press pool is not where you lecture the VP over giving a boilerplate platitude about diplomacy. Zelensky lost his temper over nothing, and deserves most of the blame for it.

I honestly think Zelensky instigated that blow up. There was no need for him to antagonize Vance over his relatively benign comment on diplomacy, which was effectively what began that confrontation.

I suspect that's actually part of why people feel comfortable voting for them. Whatever happens, they know AfD won't be in gov't. So they think voting for them is an inconsequential "fuck you" to the more mainstream parties, esp. ones who don't respond to concerns voters have w immigration policy.

What about splitting it into multiple parts and releasing the parts within a day or two of one another?

One of those 'third positionist' type ideologies that originated in the Cold War context, but is essentially just a noxious mix of socialism, fascism and cult of personality with a hearty dose of corruption to boot

The Death of Stalin is an absolute riot of a movie. Stalin's son crashing the Chinese delegation and going on an unhinged tirade in front of Zhou Enlai is easily in my top 5 funniest movie scenes

True. I've lost interest in Twitter for that same reason. In the past i've tried getting into threads, mastodon and now bluesky. But I'm starting to get a bit disillusioned with these microblogging-type sites altogether.

Musk has messed up Twitter so much that people often forget just how horrible pre-Elon Twitter was, even before he took over. The common refrain of "it's like Twitter but before Elon took over!" seems to be actually counterproductive imo
