Russia will stand by its ally Iran just like they did for Syria. Maybe Khamenei can move in next to Assad?🙃

More than 450 million Europeans. 29 countries. 1 shared freedom. In 2025, we mark 40 years since the Schengen Agreement was signed. This landmark event has reshaped how over 450 million Europeans live, work and travel.

If this was the extent of Iran’s retaliatory capability, Israel’s initial strikes were even more successful than previously assumed. A smaller attack than 2024 which has now effectively given Bibi the green light to go after a wider array of targets including oil and regime.

if you wanted to discredit the idea of revolution in Iran you couldn't do a better job than having Bibi call for it

The situation in Iran should surprise nobody. Iran has been moving forward in the nuclear program, and Israel cannot accept a nuclear armed Iran. And Iran on the other hand has learned from the failed Budapest Memorandum that treaties are nowadays just ink on paper.

New piece for Zeit Online. The deregulation fever gripping Berlin is fine if dosed. But it’s not going to save Germanys promising clean tech sector. For that, industrial policy is indispensable. A good place to start? Align France and Germanys subsidy schemes - as a blueprint for the whole EU

Excelent Bruegel report about gas flows. Having Ukraine as part of the European network adds a lot of storage capacity but worryingly the overall storage levels are as low as 2022 (but still higher than 2021). Would love to also see value (USD) in addition to volume (million cubic meters).

🇬🇪A country once seen as the democratic bright spot of the post-Soviet space is now undergoing the fastest authoritarian regression in modern European history. 🧵Here’s a thread to keep you updated on what’s happening - and why it matters. 1/23

0 points for guessing what happened in the USA to cause this change 🤡

The two events only being 9 months apart is a good indicator that we're back to living in interesting times.

**Operation Spiders Web** I resisted a hot take. So, on sober reflection… Op Spiderweb was one of the most impressive, and strategic attacks ever. Short thread 🧵 #russia #Ukraine

Intentional misinformation is quite the step up from accidental hallucination, isn't it? Eroding trust even further will furter deteriorate the state of democracy.

Very cool that a verified Twitter account apparently claiming to rep DHS has gotten thousands of retweets of its claim of civil war after sharing a stock photo of bricks. bsky.app/profile/roth...

Anders Puck Nielsen makes sum-up of the war 1. Russian summer offensive has started 2. Sumy must be protected or it becomes human safari city 3. Air war is changing - being only on defence will not be enough Thank you @anderspucknielsen.dk for your latest video 🙏 www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCE2...

A good illustration of how wrong the "Ru retaliates" narrative is. Any self-respecting journalist should pin this and remind themselves to never fall in this trap again.

Bellingcat repeated their experiment of a few years ago in LLM photo geolocation but using modern models. "…in urban settings, LLMs excelled at cross-referencing subtle details, whereas Google Lens tended to fixate on larger, similar-looking structures…" www.bellingcat.com/resources/ho...

Couldn't agree more with this @adamtooze.bsky.social banger. "The scandal is not that European defence budgets have not already doubled. The scandal is that Europe spends so much and gets so little for it." The European defense enterprise is a total mess. www.ft.com/content/f450...

Excellent, concise assessment of the strikes by @hoanssolo.bsky.social foreignpolicy.com/2025/06/04/u...

Where is the global outrage? Where are the actions? On June 6th 2023, at this very time russians blew up Kakhovka HPP dam. #Ukraine #UkrainianView

A 5oz glass of wine has 123 calories, which is burned by 25 minutes of walking ∴ if you take about an ounce worth of sips every 5 minutes, these activities cancel out perfectly.

Trump is outraged that Ukraine struck legitimate military targets inside Russia. 🤦‍♂️

Europe is back as a global superpower. Welcome to the age of multipolarity, It didn't have to happen. Link in replies 👇

If the future is electric, China is building a big advantage quickly.

The problem of false AI-generated satellite (remote sensing) imagery intelligence. Important 🧵 There is another, associated problem: the use of AI to interpret satellite imagery. It used to be the sole preserve of skilled and gifted human analysts. Can AI automation pick up or miss an AI fake?

An independent open source 'Energy Optimization System' looks like it has enormous potential not only for the electrified prosumer but also for amplitude damping in the grid, decreasing the volatility of renewables etc. CC @adrianhiel.bsky.social
