I am nothing if not predictable

Post you from a different era. Back in my long-red-hair-burlesque-dancer days

Got excited to see an email in my inbox with an update about a new play commission I submitted for, only to realize it was an update saying they need an extra month to make their decision because they received so many submissions 🫠

First film festival acceptance for my horror short EYE CANDY that shot last year!! 🙌 And it’s a local festival that I may actually be able to attend!!!

9pm microwave taquitos and a sick husband already in bed. That’s a wrap on our Disney trip! I genuinely can’t believe I have to go to work tomorrow.

Too baby for Tower of Terror, just baby enough to still get carded at 37 🥂

A bird just shat on me at Disney world

Disney World is a surprisingly easy place to have celiac disease lol

Just ate a meal that makes me want to make a list of my top ten favorite meals I’ve ever eaten

Episode 25 of my podcast “The Writer’s Cut” is out today! Listen to me and Trevor discuss ON THE WATERFRONT with special guest host @leahfromsd.bsky.social!!!

Airport drinks

The absolutely wild thing about working on a 75 minute play is that on two show days our break is long enough that we could do the whole play TWICE in the span of the break

I can’t believe I’m going to Florida to escape Chicago in February and it’s going to go up to 50 degrees here while I’m gone 😭

Famous actor I’m working with really misses their family and I’m seriously considering inviting them out to go bowling with me and my husband? We’ve developed a good working relationship and I don’t want to make it weird, though. They’re just so lonely right now!!

I’m going on vacation with my family on Monday and tbh I can’t believe I have to work all day and all night tomorrow first :(

New tactic when I encounter someone being an idiot online is to simply type out what my reaction would be if I was an audience member holding rotten tomatoes “Boo booooooo tomato tomato booo GET OFF THE STAAAAGE boooo tomato tomato”

What's that? Two guest hosts in a row?? We've got Leah Simmons @leahfromsd.bsky.social joining my podcast "The Writer's Cut" to talk about ON THE WATERFRONT for Episode 25, coming out 2/25/25!

I went to stock up on some makeup for my trip next week and I had to buy both my face powder and eyebrow pencil one shade off from what I usually get, so get ready because I’m gonna be fully unrecognizable in these vacation pics

Seven years ago today, I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 30. Still mad at everything that was taken away from me. Still grateful I’m alive to be mad about it. Without it, though, BREAST IN SHOW wouldn’t exist—

It's happening again! A Chicago screenwriter meetup! Monday, March 24, 2025 6:30-9:30pm @ The Long Room (in their back room) 1612 W Irving Park Rd A very casual social mixer - come and go as you please!

Half a can of boozy cider A few handfuls of everything bagel flavored cashews Some shredded Parmesan straight from the bag Am I doing “girl dinner” (late lunch) right?

Currently stuck with painful hiccups while trying to swallow my evening medications; all anti-hiccup tricks are fair game right now, give me all you’ve got

Dropped my dog off with my mother-in-law today, and I *know* Dekker always loves it there and I *know* I'm about to take an awesome trip with my family next week but I still always feel so bad leaving her behind I hope she knows I'm coming back 😭

Episode 24 of my podcast “The Writer’s Cut” is out today! Listen to us discuss ROMAN HOLIDAY with our second ever guest host, Chicago screenwriter Geoff Bakken!

I just gotta say it, Robert Sean Leonard is an absolute goddamn delight and I love working with him

Tarot reading is definitely my most woo-woo metaphysical hobby by far, and I love this new deck so much I decided to give my screenplay BREAST IN SHOW a lil past -> present -> future reading. Based on this spread, I like where things are heading.

Don't post AI slop. And if you repost by mistake, as I've done, delete it. When you have something to say and attach AI art, you're undercutting your message and hurting artists. Pay or barter for art. There's a reason good things cost money and take time. AI art is harmful and it looks like ass.

I met my coworker’s ten month old baby today, and while it certainly didn’t give me baby fever (not doing that), it did make me wish there was someone I was close to who has a baby I could see like, once a week lol

It’s giving TOMMY flashbacks with the actor shoulder towel

Love love love being married to my husband, who says good night with delightfully unhinged shit like “I love you on this Day of St Valentine, who is now a skeleton— surprise, it’s Halloween!”

Quick what’s a nice cheer-up happy-opening-night gift I can get for someone I don’t know super well between now and Monday night

Someone ~*~cool~*~ is looking at a pitch deck for one of my features and that's all I'm gonna say about it lol #vaguesky

🔮✨new deck alert✨🔮

I have no idea how young he thought I was but the actor I dress just FREAKED OUT when I told him I’m 37 🤣

Uhhhhhhhhh hey, so like, my mood stabilizer and antipsychotic are why I’m a living, functional adult who made it all the way to 37 years old so far. They’re why I have successful interpersonal relationships and can keep a steady job. This language about the “threat” they pose is really upsetting!

I am pleased to report that [famous actor I dress] is an absolute goddamn delight and I love working with him more and more with each passing day

Current show is less than 90 minutes long which gives me the amazing gift of being actively ON the train home before 10pm!!!

Got bored of waiting for the theater I work at to read my stage play RED DEVIL so instead of sitting around I submitted it to three other local theaters who do a lot of new play development work lol

My next draft of BIG SKY COUNTRY is gonna be killer honestly, I’m really excited for this one

I would love to get back into the habit of regular exercise, but lately it feels like at all times I’m either 1) quite sick, 2) working 12 hour days, or 3) both at once (see: right now)
