Labour hammering the vulnerable through cuts to benefits - instead of taxing the rich. Discussing that on BBC Radio 5 from 9am...

Regular reminder that there is no reason Labour has to “eye billions of pounds in welfare and other cuts”. It’s more than possible to raise cash with targeted wealth taxes. Austerity is a choice and it’s a choice no matter what colour party is in power.

"Billions of pounds worth of cuts to welfare benfits and other govt spending are being drafted..." The Labour govt could introduce a wealth tax targeting the super rich & billionaires. Instead they're choosing to target the sick & disabled people.

It’s scary figuring out that the system is rigged. It’s easier to believe that you’re just not working hard enough than it is to accept you’re being screwed over by those at the top. Watch the full interview: youtu.be/c6Hcgs3B_XU?...

Today’s the day… Beer Breaks in Britain is now on the shelves of your local bookshop.

Annaliese Dodds has made a principled decision to step down from her role following Starmer's move to cut foreign aid to fund defence spending. Like her, I believe withdrawing from humanitarian commitments is both cruel, counterproductive, and short-sighted.

Almost half of councils in England risk falling into bankruptcy without urgent action. Special educational needs and disabilities funding is of particular concern after years of austerity. The Government could choose to tax the super-rich and fund our services properly.

"It is increasingly difficult for people to simply work their way out of poverty. People are struggling to pay todays bills & there are rises in energy bills, rail & council tax coming this Spring. People must be paid a real living wage." leftfootforward.org/2025/02/4-5-...

🧐In 2018 the cost of nationalising water was hugely overestimated by a private water funded, "economically illiterate" report 😡Today the government is using this report to justify EXCLUDING the option of public ownership in its new commission on water www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEEs...

This morning I'm at the launch of the new "Growth Plan." Labour are getting it badly wrong. 👇🏼

Well said Jemma Forte 👏🏾

On the day the Climate Change Committee call for urgent climate action BP have announced they are going to increase oil and gas production (yes, you read that right) all in the name of "growing shareholder value." BP have today shown they can't be trusted to take action on the climate crisis.

Shameful. Labour talk about difficult decisions and tough choices. The choice this time? To cut the foreign aid budget. Why are the 'difficult choices' never taxing the wealth of the super rich?

“Farage is doing well because he’s pushing for a massive shake up to the system. We need to counter that by pushing for an even bigger shake up – by redistributing wealth, investing in communities, and tackling the climate crisis," says Zak. Read: wcwd.substack.com/p/no-growth-...

The government has announced it will pay for more weapons and bombs by cutting support for the world's poorest people. A deplorable decision that will only create a more unstable and unequal world. What is the government doing to bring about peace?

Leaseholders in my constituency were promised that, under a Labour government, things would change. They are still waiting. I have written to Angela Rayner to ask when my constituents will be free from this outdated and exploitative system once and for all.
