Like, I could see him saying - I'm not meeting with just anyone but I'll direct you to the Secretary of HHS or their second, and they'll make sure your message is heard - and I feel like that should be fine.

Okay, aside from my gut reaction of "why do they get to meet with him?"...
So @mcuban.bsky.social did Biden completely not send ANYONE to meet with you or other businesspeople (like cabinet members or important staff), did he say it was a timing issue, or did he just refuse? Just curious.

I really struggle to have any sort of trust in someone who can look at Jan 6, 2021 and still believe that voting for Trump was a good idea. But there are definitely people I care for on the right and vice versa.

I highly doubt that will happen.

I was responding to the statement independent of the original post. Perhaps this was a mistake and confused the message. I wholeheartedly agree with the candidate's statement.

True. But I just wish that sympathy for Palestine wasn't automatically being labeled as antisemitism.

If the names of police are secret, then you have ... a secret police.
(for those unaware, Gestapo is short for Geheime Staatspolizei which translates to secret police)

I also discuss what AI does well and what it does badly. And I also talk about how AI is taking jobs and what new jobs will look like where one person and AI is doing the work of 5 people. It's a brave new world. But there's no avoiding this.

Consistent messaging is needed. We've been here in math for a while - why do engineering students learn Calculus if a computer can do it? Because they need to implicitly understand the underlying concepts, and that requires work. And every professor tells them that.

I'm not too surprised. Basically, the axis that runs between Omaha and Lincoln is the blue island in a very otherwise red state. (maybe a bit of blue up near Sioux Falls as well). It's high time that Omaha flipped blue.

Well, "Fox News" and "ONN" still count as news with these polls, so one can speculate that being *misinformed* is worse than being not informed at all is where we're really at here.

Honestly, "Growing a Spine is Good Politics" would be a fitting headline.

I think that has to be done in steps - don't want to rush that action, make sure it's abundantly clear what they're doing AND that it's coming from the top before you issue that warrant.

No I think it's a good clarification. I wasn't really careful with my facts

Okay that's true - the director of the Fed decides independently to change interest rates - but I think you can argue he certainly is influenced by the monetary policy put in place by the President. I don't know, maybe you don't want to accept that argument though
comment in response to

No (I think). Presidents manipulate the market all the time, as does Congress. Every time the Fed's interest rates are raised and lowered? Market manipulation.
Now, one could argue that doing so to profit off the predictable (for you) volatility of the stock market SHOULD be illegal. But it's not.

Chinese tariffs still in place. For many companies, that's still enough to put them out of business.

How soon before they start doing this for US citizens? And at that point, do they deport any of us who disagree with them? They're already arguing that if they do so, they're not legally obliged to ever bring us back.
comment in response to

I hate the answer to this question. Because approximately half of us remain completely unmoved by such stories.
comment in response to
post
Oh yeah, I hate Stein's politics. But tariffs is actually more traditionally a tool that was used by liberal governments, as it is counter to free-market policy, so it makes sense for him to be against them (also, people tend to disagree less on policy when history has already played out)

And Ben Stein is a major conservative, who for the most part was ad libbing about economics during that scene. It came from the heart for him. Not that this should really matter, but in this era of "believing whatever your party believes then pretending it's your own opinion" I figure that matters.

Even worse - after those lies the far right who lapped up JD's lies will be aghast if they bring him back, so it is now politically expedient for the Trump administration to leave him there to rot.

and that lie is being amplified on The Other Site. Because of course it is.

that being said, what is the name of the legislation? I searched a bill that she wrote and it doesn't seem to effectively ban Tesla dealerships at all.

I'm not okay with it. There are places we have to fight fire with fire, but doing something crazy like this isn't the right move.

Don't know how one proves this other than subpoenas on his electronic devices and that ain't happening. But it is a plausible conclusion, and if it were true would be an extremely serious breach.

What a crock. They knew EXACTLY what they were doing, why they were lying, and how much FOX News would amplify their lies and paper over the coverup.

And I'm not saying there *wasn't* any funny business. I'm just saying that your number is way off under any circumstances. At *worst*, you'd be talking something like 64 to 1; more likely it's at least 10 times as likely (6 to 1) and probably even more than that.
comment in response to
post
wait what? I'm not saying there wasn't any funny business but 35 billion to 1 is an extraordinarily small number even for an unlikely event. And winning all swing states in a close election is not unlikely - it's more likely to get a lobsided result bc they're all responding to the same stimuli.

I'm in on this. Right now we need her in any sort of leadership position up there, and it burns me that the Democrats have done her dirty by not putting her in one when she clearly belongs.

So here's the thing - the racists will claim they're not racist and they credit those Black wrestlers and say that's how they should all be. Then still claim they're not judging people on skin color.

There are degrees. I am less irritated by the "thankful that I was given this opportunity" and then invoking God as opposed to the ones who say that He did everything - which is more arrogant to me because it's like saying you're God's chosen one.
But yeah, I don't like any of it.

#1: it's always been public knowledge.
#2: America has indeed decided to stop being a force of good around the world and look what's happening: our allies no longer trust us, Europe is mobilizing, Canada is retaliatory-tariffing us - our only international friends are Putin and Netanyahu.

And it is terrible messaging. Republicans know how to work the cameras. Dems need to realize that being blamed for a shutdown by Rs will put them front and center; then say "We didn't want this, but we will FIGHT for Social Security, Medicaid and the VA." Talk about issues with broad-based appeal...
