Sorry to hear that -- it was great! Great production too, with two separate stages. (Though I fear they'll fire their mic tech after multiple failures during 'Reptile' and then again later on 😄) Hopefully they'll be back soon.

I've heard them called "the teens", same as 1910s, but no idea if that's official.

Particularly to anyone at undergrad level, or at school, who might otherwise be so intimidated they wouldn't even think about it as a career.

Hopefully. I remember being told exactly that by a respected researcher on a "prospective post-grads" tour at Auckland Uni way back in the day, and it proved to be true. There's so much out there to look into, it's a question of where to start.
Definitely a message that bears repeating though!

Feels like pointy corners have been creeping back in, but maybe I've lost track of where in the cycle we are :). Also I tend to be conservative about OS updates so maybe I'm a bit behind the times.

Hell of a lot better than what Virgin Media charges me for 140 Mb in London. (On a good day. It's currently 44 :P) Unfortunately they have a local monopoly on anything better than ADSL.

They're now discussing whether something is acceptable to Home Office security and one guy says he has it in writing that they don't care.
Meanwhile the train has come to an emergency stop and we're waiting on any info.

Tempted to start live streaming this. Particularly as they seem to be working in construction.

We had barn owls last summer! Gorgeous creatures, and five owlets raised. But good lord, around fledging time it regularly sounded like a demonic orgy during the small hours of the night 😂. Not all owls 'twit tuh-woo'

Here's an example from Frozen 2. The key on Elsa is big/soft, and the sky is overcast- and yet there's a bright highlight in her eyes. There isn't a physical motivation for that eye spec here, but we do it anyway because it looks good and helps with reading where she's looking.
