Dude, Trump is now raising tensions within the US (toward a civil war) and deeply damaging the relationships with other western allies, BOTH stated objectives in the cremlin. Russia definitely helped trump win and their return on investment is spectacular.

Still not convinced this admin is not working for ruzzia. How does creating animosity among allies help the American interests? Or even the maga agenda?

Ok, it is pretty obvious trump is doing this not because he is just “dumb” or “naive”. Consider that he keeps salivating about trade with russia; it is likely trump and putin are allies.

Trump is clearly refusing to use any leverage the US has over russia. One could claim he is doing the opposite: providing putin cover and winning him time/more land.

I can already tell there are comments on social media written by AI. Half of us might be talking to robots, not humans, on the internet now. Is it better for us that we outsource using our own brain to robots? Will not get any smarter for sure. Where is this going to end?

But the US haven’t even tried to apply pressure. This “giving up” would just look like cover for abandoning any support of Ukraine. Which is something russia is looking for.

But do you see how close the putinists and trumpists are to victory? It’s a day for mild celebration but the work is far from over.

This is not even a third rate delegation from RU. I think the message they are sending is clear. I hope the allies have a real response and not just a bluff.

Blanchet is implicitly supporting trump’s attacks on Canadian sovereignty by questioning Canada’s very purpose. It reminds me of Putin who called Ukraine a fake country. In the current geopolitical context, these words are dangerous actually. Similarly, Danielle Smith’s musings are quasi treasonous.

All the while, the followers of the maga movement are being told that they are about to enter the “golden age” , “you won’t know what to do with all the $” and that America “will be respected again”… this is a cult. Facts don’t matter anymore.

They’re trying to outsource brain activity, because they’re short on it. And they still came up with THAT?

Where is the pressure on russia? Turns out trump admin can only bully the victim. As expected.

Even Dems had a slight uptick. This goes to show the power of propaganda. What was once unimaginable can become imaginable very quickly with proper conditioning. The amount of data that has been collected by social media on human behaviour makes it much easier to predict and control public opinion.

Don’t believe it.

This whole “angry” at Russia is not believable. The actions do not show that. This is just for show, to legitimize the “negotiations” or the image of the US as a “fair” arbiter between russia and Ukraine.
comment in response to

As Timothy Snyder (I think) said, this approach from the US only makes sense if the US does NOT intend to participate in NATO in the future. If you cared about nato, would you even threaten to invade and conquer a fellow alliance member?
comment in response to

This “anger” does not sound genuine. It looks like smoke and mirrors to add credibility to this US-led “peace negotiation”.

It sounds like the conditions in the deal are so unfavourable to Ukraine that it begs the question if they are intended for Ukraine to reject them.

These arguments add credence to the theory of Trump admin being a russian asset. Because so many of its actions do not serve American interests.

You shouldn’t even be allowed to be an MP in Parliament without security clearance. Canada should not be so loose with its security, it’s not a joke.

Stalin sent the teachers and professors to the gulag. There is a reason authoritarians see teachers as a problem. Protect teachers.

I’m tired of talk talk talk Europeans. France talks a lot, but is blocking confiscation of frozen Russian money. Poland talks a lot, but refuses to commit any troops to enforce a ceasefire. Italy and Spain talk a lot, but are not supporting a new 40 billion military package from the EU.

How does this make sense? China is forging ahead with green investments, clean technology, while some ppl in the west want to go backwards? German conservatives who just got elected are not this shortsighted.
comment in response to

Why? Why does Italy keep insisting on always being on the sidelines when important things happen to Europe?
comment in response to

It seems that France is blocking the appropriation of Russian frozen money and using it to help Ukraine.

Tim Walz is the real deal. Him and @aoc.bsky.social could lead America out of the Trumpist nightmare.

These are the same people waving the Canadian flag at the Ottawa convoy. Patriotism is just a prop for the far right agenda.
comment in response to

Absolutely, it’s a no brainer to cancel the order. Imagine buying planes from a country that wants to annex you and one that could easily refuse to sell parts, provide software updates or maintenance to these planes? This is a national security risk!
comment in response to

Tim Walz has enough charisma, integrity and communication skills to lead a movement against the Trump admin. People would stand with him. Americans are desperate for leadership like this.

Did you see Tamara Lich comments on social, already poking fun at Canadian patriotism during this trade war? We need to watch what these convoy-types are up to and whether they are acting in the interests of foreign states.

I hope Zelenskyy got some reassurance from European allies (like Merz) that they will seriously back Ukraine up, because it is clear trump admin will not help Ukraine achieve this.

Anyone still think 2% of gdp for defence is too much and too fast? We need 5% like, today. Europe is waking up, time for Canada too.

See, in a post-truth world and especially, in a trump cult, it doesn’t matter at all what justification he gives, it will be taken as truth. That’s the scary thing. When he cuts Medicare, he will blame “the deep state” or something and his crowd will eat it.

This plane is overpriced anyway and why would anyone pay billions to a country threatening to annex you?

I’m sure trump is aware and looking forward to having a pliable yes-man in Pierre Polievre as PM. Elon will drop some coin to help him out as well.

Russia has more reliable allies (Iran and NK) than Ukraine. Truly sad.

Well , they are already talking about loosening sanctions on russia, which essentially would be aid to russia.

Wow, that’s all it took for Putin to get America? This is a strategic win of epic proportions by Russian security state. And a massive embarrassment for USA to allow this.
