So, feel your feelings. Panic a little. Then pick one concrete thing you can do today and do it, no matter how small it feels.

Your empathy and compassion have never been a bad thing. They have always been a manifestation of your revolutionary mind. That voice that says "be reasonable" or "it doesn't affect you" is just years of internalized propaganda, and panic is your revolutionary mind refusing to comply.

I think we must have abolished the filibuster, bc that's the only way I can explain the current behavior of Senate Dems, just whistling and twirling their thumbs while the government burns.

Did we abolish the filibuster and I missed it? All I see are polite senators pretending that we aren't in the middle of a constitutional and humanitarian crisis.
But please, keep sending me fundraising emails.

I hate that this is true, but is also the truest thing I've read this morning.

I couldn't remember "pole saw", but Google knew what I meant when I asked for a "knife on a long stick".

I work for a state university, and our Board of Regents isn't required to recognize us. They don't want to admit it, but our organizing has changed their policies and won better pay and conditions for students, faculty, and staff.

If you're in the US, you can join a union even if your institution isn't legally required to recognize you and bargain with you.

I'm thankful for union members, and getting to go to meetings and actions with them and know that they all care about each other without anyone having to convince them to do it. #SolidarityForever

Not even felony convictions, just felony warrants. And people who have been charged or convicted need to eat, too, and they paid Social Security taxes like everyone else. I'm sure plenty of protesters will get caught up in this.

It's the proposed appropriations bill that replaced the current continuing resolution.

I'm sure they think so. I worry, though, that some of them are willing to die to preserve the privileges of whiteness, or just to deny the basics of a decent life to folks who are Black, Indigenous and people of color.

They are literally willing to let children in their own communities starve for the sake of white supremacy and the profits of billionaires. I guess I'm glad I don't understand because I never want to be the kind of person that would act like this.

On one hand, the cruelty is startling, because kids will 100% go hungry (or hungrier) under this.
On the other hand, I know the cruelty and suffering is the goal, not a side effect.

But if my instance company thinks some paperwork is going to keep me away from the medications that keep me healthy, they have underestimated my reserve of stubbornness and spite.
