it drives me bananas when people say ignore identity politics to focus on class. CLASS IS A PART OF IDENTITY POLITICS. the women who came up with identity politics are literally socialists! class oppression is mentioned in the THIRD SENTENCE of the statement! www.blackpast.org/african-amer...

This isn't to excuse plenty of bookstore owners who refuse to budge on wages no matter what their margins are (it's too many of them!), but better terms with the big 5 would give a lot of stores more wiggle room and consequently a lot of booksellers something for which they can reasonably negotiate.

And as we think about how we want to use or not use social media, both individually and collectively, it's worth noting that whistleblowing, like HN employees speaking up, got wider attention in part because they were posting on social media
