We should first recognize that gender codes are socially constructed. Clothing is not inherently masculine or feminineโ€”codes are contextual and can change over time. Aristocratic men once wore bright red heels. Then they became womenswear until that notion was challenged again.

Have you tried web search? In EU it's pretty easy to buy them individually but for US (if that's where you're stationed) you can try for example www.arsequine.com/sterile-whir...

I'm using free version of canva [dot] com (online design and publishing thingie). If you want to experiment with my layout, I converted it to a template: tinyurl.com/TemplateDesk... but there are also probably thousands of other templates there xD

probably should've tagged it with #AcademicSky considering it's also very useful for keeping track of your #UniLife i'm still waiting for the final confirmation for the dates of the classes I teach so haven't added these yet but having all the dates on my desktop worked brilliantly last semester

Way too short for me, too! I don't really use it as intended, it's an additional motivator (makes me feel like I'm going on an adventure xD + adventure is ongoing, can't stop now!) + time awareness thingie + writing-mood-starter thingie. I do pauses every time the vid ends (... if/when I notice ๐Ÿ™ˆ).

Oh it doesn't have to reveal your identity! Just more wordsy (+ following others might get you some insights or info abt positions in your field). Sorry to hear abt rejections! I know that feeling. But hey, being 2nd means you're totally awesome and on the right track! You'll get there!

[Bonus:] So you know how our brains like variety? I (re-)discovered one of my favorite pomodoro-based immersive writing YT vids (25 minutes of music + 5 minutes break x 4). It's for writing fantasy but to me, the title sounds A LOT like academia ๐Ÿ˜ˆ youtu.be/_BroK8h0eZg?...

Sorry, notification got lost! I'm yet to try using e-ink stuff (soon tho, got some extra grant money). I do have Lenovo IdeaPad and it's nice for reading in bed or light note-taking but not working as an instead-of-paper thingie. Too distracting cause of all the colors and wrong texture :(

I added one of the Breaking News feed to my Bsky feeds. It's dead last on my list of feeds (out of sight out of mind) but useful on more newsy days. There might be better ones now (will check at some point) but for now I'm using bsky.app/profile/did:...

Definitely not doing the in-person stuff (at this point, I'm not sure they'd let me in considering my research focus). Atm, I'm also thinking about cancelling the remote things with fee that goes to US-based universities/associations cause funding what is happening there feels so NO.

I am prone to doing that and my two sorta working solutions are: water (drinking forces you to pause) and slides. And tbh slides work better: I use presenter's notes and tell myself to slow down, ask questions, etc. between slides. I use 13-20 slides per 90 minutes so I get 13-20 reminders xD

Additional important information: survey for 18+ LGBTQ+ people who live in England, Wales or Scotland (adding here so that others don't click just to learn they are not your demographics)

Somewhat-related bluesky advice: you might want to develop your profile a bit (add your research interests?) and follow people from your field (maybe use bsky.app/starter-pack... ? there might be better packs tho, I'm humanities so I just did packs search) to look like a person and get answers :)

Zotero as a citations manager with word processor plugin - free and reliable, can do basically everything any style-related for you.

Just letting you know that the person deleted the thingy! (Also, thank you for saying that. I saw the post before your intervention and had entire monolog in my head abt ppl not thinking about their posts being visual triggers.)

Gave up and decided that I might as well use Canva for something not work-related. So now I'm no longer searching but creating wallpapers for entire 2025 xD If anyone needs a wallpaper that helps (a bit) with timeblindess, feel free to grab my December ๐Ÿ˜… (can add Canva link if needed) #ADHDsky

Some templates are way too complex for me (meaning: my ADHD strikes faster than my willingness to learn them) even though I'm really good with tech (worse with planning). But I do like this one as a starter - it's well-balanced (and free) www.notion.so/marketplace/...
