I'm just gonna say it - calling Vance a "catholic" slanders catholics. He is wearing our clothes, but he is not of us. He likes the idea of "old fashioned" or "artesinal" Christianity, but he has no understanding of the requirements of our social teachings and the primacy of mercy above all.

Lots of talk about Tanith Lee lately. She was an absolute formative influence on my childhood. The books I adored were The Unicorn series (I vibed with Tanaquil SO MUCH), and Cyrion (which were a quietly subversive sword and sorcery), and these are available in ebook, at least in Europe.
