Thx for addressing this impt issue but huge missed opportunity to discuss use of vaginal estrogen (either cream or pessary or ring), it’s the top prevention for UTIs in peri/menopausal women, safe for everyone to take docs say. Top menopause specialist docs all recommend it to all women 40+.

I love that show! Wish they’d make more seasons. The British version is so much better than the American spinoff.

Thank you for your efforts & encouraging words, they matter, you matter. I’m spending today cleaning out/organizing my garage & reading a new book. Trying any anti-spiraling activity I can think of. Hope you get some down time too.

Nick I saw the same thing when I was in Peace Corps in Africa, moms lined up down the village road with kids for our vaccine clinics, they’d seen enough kids die to inherently know how to keep the kids alive. (Never the Dads btw, always the Moms.) No political BS, just actual public health working.

@glaucomflecken.bsky.social Possible future Knock Knock Eye episode breakdown? Even though the thought of this gives me the heebie jeebies.

I got about 15 new books for Xmas. I’m picking those up and reading instead of paying attention to politics. It’s so much more peaceful. Escaping into literary land.

I had GE washer/dryer that lasted 26 years (!) w/o problem. But then washer started not cleaning well & dryer couldn’t be cleaned out, Fireman Dryerman cleaning service told me it was a danger/hazard, so I opted for new ones. Had to go w/budget Amana models but so far ok. Top loader w/agitator.

I didn’t know Ned found him & saved his life, that makes the scene the other day in the Q house, where Ned was welcoming Jason back home, all the more meaningful.

My mom makes these pretzel sticks dipped in white chocolate for the holidays & they are sinfully good. But she just told me she’s not making them this year, too much other stuff to make & no one liked them except me. 😩

Potatoes au gratin with lots of cheese. The ultimate wintery warm indulgence dish.

How to respond to a far right boomer relative that insists “Our country (& this incoming administration) isn’t going to let bad things happen to people. You’re drinking the koolaid if you think they’re going to let another Great Depression or economic collapse happen.”

They need wind shields around them built by the crew, that would make it much more fair in terms of just fire making skill.

Joyeux anniversaire! 🎊 Birthdays as you get older are a really good excuse for eating whatever you want on that day & feeling zero guilt. 😬🥐🍪

Hi, chopped uncooked 1 C Fuji apple (peeled), 1 C canned pear. Folded into batter as last step before baking. Lots of cinnamon!

I can still find some kind of solace in reading good books, and baking homemade bread. But yes the stress & anxiety often overwhelms much of what used to feel safe & comforting. Keep going.

Gave my senior mom tickets to see Paul McCartney in person several yrs ago (pre-pandemic); the look on her face as she realized what they were…and then at the concert listening to her scream “I love you Paul!” like she was a teenager again, she’s loved him her whole life. Priceless. 🙌

The CEO of BlueSky (Jay) has apparently requested that people use “post” as the official go-to. 🤷🏻♀️

Thanks for this, it means a lot. I was the only one masking at today’s Thanksgiving, definitely felt like the sideshow freak on display for 15 other people to stare at, but it’s how I was able to even be there at all. Wasn’t able to eat anything. Sacrifices are not easy. 😢

Completely logical, hopefully everyone respects it. Families are being torn apart by political division, it’s heartbreaking.

What a beautifully written tribute to your father. My college Astronomy professor was one of the scientists who worked on Hubble & her excitement for it & all things space was infectious. 🪐🔭💫

I was begging my boss at the time (who wouldn’t let us work from home yet) “Italy is literally screaming at us from the other side of the world to LISTEN & take measures NOW, they’re telling us how bad it is, & no one will listen!!” I was crying & terrified. So sorry you had to go through that.

Baby steps are good. I’ve just been baking loaf after loaf of bread, in hopes that will help my brain adjust somehow. 😂🍞 (The kneading is therapeutic somehow.)

I learned when I was about 12, my Mom taught me, and I used to make scarfs and small blankets, but I’d have zero idea now how to even hold a hook or what to do, I’ve completely lost all skill memory of it! Definitely not like riding a bike I guess.

I haven’t eaten cheesecake since college on purpose, when our dorm kitchen accidentally ordered like 50 cases of it instead of the intended 5 cases, and we had cheesecake every day for months. Still can’t even look at it now. 😆

My 8 yr old laptop completely crashed a few wks ago, it was really weird restoring it to the 2016 factory default, like going back in time. Finally did get it working again. Probably time for a new one though.
