Quasar has always been free, so if you like swashbuckling space opera action then there's absolutely nothing stopping you from downloading the rule book!

tbh if they deserve it then they deserve it, some people just really need a swift kick in the butt without the legal repercussions that come with it

hope you feel better super super soon, if you're having trouble tasting stuff you can usually still taste spicy and sour btw, that absolutely got me through the blandness of food when I got it.

tooo true hahaha sometimes the hand that rolls the dice is just a lil cursed and no amount of careful balancing will help

pretty much about "fair" results ya haha, I imagine print orientation would normally mess up wall thickness and the bottom side a bit for more traditional dice, but the design on these should be just fine on paper ! I made a D3 like this once but tbh never went back to fix its design flaws.

The majority of people don't stop to make the necessary connections to see why it's the same shared struggle, even when they themselves are part of that struggle, like over here in Jordan we have an awful slur for Roma despite so many experiencing racism for being Arab or Palestinian or Muslim 2/🧵

most racism today tends to fly under the radar of general consensus in a society. it's only after it becomes completely unacceptable to be racist in a certain way or to a certain group that the average person acts accordingly.

ya no I completely get it, safety justice and livable material conditions need to be addressed well before discussing language. I've also had the unfortunate reaction of people not actually knowing who im talking about when I say Roma or Romani
comment in response to

everything I've seen on Europe's treatment of Roma has been utterly disgusting, the sad thing is that I'm not at all surprised by this headline either... also please correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the word they used seen as a slur ?

absolutely scale, its not a rigid taxonomy but id say a skirmish game can usually be played with 1 or 2 squads worth of minis with a lot more focus on each mini, whereas a wargame would usually run each of those squads almost like individual units with many more on the tabletop.

This is exactly what went through my mind when I was writing out my thoughts on this and just as I finish the last message in the thread I hear air raid sirens soon followed by the windows shaking to an intercepted missile. like we should be WELL beyond debating who's doing "real art" by now

I know the feeling, this particular sigil was just too good of a fit thematically lmao.

im going to just keep building my system and eventually make some adventures, you dont need adventures to have a good system, but if it helps make things more accessible and reach a wider audience then ya sure pretty helpful addition then.

- Space pirate groups such as the Unseelie or the Dreadfleet, organized crime groups such as the Ryu Hi Yakuza and mercenaries such as the Crimson sun who may turn towards their own independent criminal goals based on the whims of the current Khan 2/🧵

the Sol corporation is without a doubt the largest criminal organization in Quasar, it's a corporate entity so large and so powerful that it holds territory and populations to rival the Vulpathian Empire, The Federation and the order of the black diamond. on a smaller scale you have - 1/🧵

I'll always prefer an original rule-set to a story built into another system which is why I do playtest sessions for Quasar 2-3 times a week with regular updates to the rules, that's a strong personal preference though and not a dismissal of how others do things.

We dont call first person shooter games "doom clones" anymore even if they were built with the same exact mechanics. and when we do look at very significant videogame mods often the only thing stopping them from being seen as a new original game is a legal inability to seperate from the base game5/🧵

In the case of TTRPGs that write a story and use another established system while changing nothing, I'm tempted to say that we should just call these stories or modules for that system, but often something as simple as adding on your own character archetypes or classes can rewrite how you play. 4/🧵

-that you otherwise wouldnt see without some very dedicated roleplay. but in the same way that some miniature painters really like low detail models so they can add their own detailing, low rules TTRPGs can give some people the space they need to tell their stories freely. 3/🧵

That being said though, I also have to say that rules do steer gameplay and roleplay in certain directions, a game with a system for character hunger will encourage and be better suited for survival stories naturally and that mechanic is very likely to stir up player interactions- 2/🧵

It usually depends on how long the players will be in a city, if it's for a whole arc or campaign ill make a detailed map, if it's just for a visit ill just label some districts on a map generator for a general idea of where things are
