Setting Posting™ for my megastructure SF setting. Bronze age communism, electronic mind control, and questionable surgical practices in the cities of the Oases.

When I say "get your fantasy inspiration from the real world," this is what I'm talking about. Cisterns with columns supported by medusa heads—repurposed from older constructions—tilted and turned to disperse her baleful gaze.

Hi there, tabletop RPG designers! I'm opening up the first Bannerless Games Tabletop RPG Grant. I'm looking to award up to 5 designers $250 to help create their games and/or set up their businesses. Applications open today and run through the end of the month. Enter here! bannerless.games/grant

thank you for the warm welcome! 500x500px works : ) #pixelart

about six weeks ago, I started running a play-by-post real-time "logistics wargame" I made, called Cataphracts. It started with 5 players, now it has 23. I've tweeted about it a bit, but here's a short blogpost with more thoughts and observations ⬇️ (link below)

I did some writing for Yes, Another Bug Hunt. I finished detailing the colony. Trying now to describe the 5 different types of hexes of the hunting ground map. #Mothership

I am making progress again on my #Mothership scenario "Yes, Another Bug Hunt." @thelen0.bsky.social have drawn some of the bug hunters NPCs:

I did the Gygax75 Challenge, 75 minutes a day for a new friends & family OD&D campaign I'd like to start. Thought doing it this way was really great at getting a whole campaign in a runnable state in a fraction of the time: icastlight.blogspot.com/2025/04/the-...

I know we’ve got the Bloggies and those are great, but what are y’all’s *own* favorite articles on your blogs? Maybe something you wish had gotten more of an audience? I want to read those!

i think tabletop game devs should suffer more

Hammer Blessing Ritual recent piece that dropped to my patrons for royalty free use - thought this idea of mystical treatment of a weapon could be fun to depict. the alchemy is what either curses or blesses the object

Look at the wonderful map that @thelen0.bsky.social drew for my #Mothership adventure titled “Oh yes, another bug hunt!” I am taking an illustration break and only doing the writing for this one. Get ready to hunt some big bugs! :3

Print copies of Owe My Soul are also now available from Sabre Games and Cards (www.sabregamesandcards.com/product-page...) and directly from Tuesday Knight Games (www.tuesdayknightgames.com/products/owe...).

Why do the Gygax 75 Challenge in weeks when you can do it in minutes?! So here is the start of my Gygax 75 Minute Challenge Clash of the Titans-meets-Tortuga-meets-Dagon: icastlight.blogspot.com/2025/03/the-...

this week in the bathtub, hyperdense mausritter module from the author of Dead Weight, the Stragglers! playfulvoid.game.blog/2025/03/10/b... #osr

There aren't many deals like this in indie RPGs (a wip sandbox!), and there aren't many creators like Atelier Hwei. Pariah is one of those games that reminds you of how different and new old school RPGs can feel. He's an inspiration, and I'm proud to know him. atelier-hwei.itch.io/complete-par...

dang time to read all of Incunabuli again

war in moon

Also, a cut-away of the entire vessel - showing the central habitation section and one of the agricultural sections

Here is page 1. Probably will become low rez with bluesky.

🚨 ZINE DROP 🚨 One of the best Mothership modules around -- Owe My Soul to the Company Store by @archons-court-games.itch.io -- is now available in print on one of the best indie game stores around: Spear Witch 👇 spearwitch.com/products/owe...

One of the funnest projects i did last year was whipping up a short story for @vor-bokor.bsky.social to draw for METAL HURLANT - drawing on our mutual love for strugatsky sci-fi, kin dza-dza, ethnographic costumes, etc - total blast to work on!!!! And Artyom killed it!

Quite pleased with how this spread's turning out.

Warren's posts in this ersatz series are some of the most useful, most concise posts for *writing prep* I've seen - perfectly weaving together all manner of pre-existing tools and leaning on tables to hammer out a faction w. goals, foes, boss fights, and treasures in ~500 words.

I love posts where people talk about prep! And this one is great because it's a module I am keen to make part of my Mothership campaign, once I return to the game.

Over on my old school D&D blog, wrote up a monster for my late antique Iran-inspired setting King of Kings based on one of my favorite tidbits from the Talmud! Check it out! #osr #ttrpg savevsworm.blogspot.com/2025/02/fals...

Wrote about turning a simple random regional event seed, “shrine”, into a full fledged encounter then opportunity for world building: icastlight.blogspot.com/2025/02/prai...

This Zungeon Zunday, it’s Taken by the Blood-men, an interesting, many-hooked beast of a zungeon playfulvoid.game.blog/2025/02/22/z...

For published adventures, if some question comes up immediately in play, and requires a lot of work to answer, it should be included in the adventure. An example from the brilliant Gradient Descent: 🧵 1/4

An old region-post for my megastructure setting: sideways rains of molten plastic, white-hot depleted uranium spears, and the spectre of drought and famine. To be turned into a hexcrawl, one of these days.

I posted the full image to Patreon, but I really dig this particular bit.

first session of this and they've already decided to start a fistfight with their neighbors over trespassing in their 3D printer fields and stumbled face-first into the harshest entry on the random encounter table they'll be fine™️, i'm sure

One of the real dangers of the Megastructure is the nano plague infection. The cause of the human genome accelerated mutation and the reason why the System Sphere eradicate human settlements. Sometime a human gets infected by two strains and is able to metabolize the nanites to become a symbiont.

A Reclamation 'Kilnrunner' arrives at Two-Sky River to the interest of local Birrin. These huge vehicles can move across the wastes of the Kiln desert as scouts and mobile bases, able to survive the 70 C daytime heat. #scifiart
