Making music like Depeche Mode got beat up by Trent Reznor, or vice versa. Also playing a lot of old video games.

Don’t think so. I might not intentionally close distance from afar to go for one, but it seems normal to me if you’re already within range.

I won't lie to you, if it wasn't taken I was going to grab it for future use.

If you think that the cost reduction from this will go towards retaining employees who they would have cut otherwise, I have a bridge to sell you.

…that’s it? A couple employee salaries’ worth? That’s a drop in the bucket. They must be really obsessed with cutting all possible costs to blow up this much goodwill over that little money.

It certainly helps me feel zero guilt about going all-in on flash carts and FPGA emulation.

Turbosynth was incredible, I’d be honored to borrow its name.

I am confident that he would have used Cubase

And I don’t think that it’s a coincidence that you see so many conservative justices with Harvard or Yale degrees. The level of diversity drops as the price of tuition goes up. Rich whites hanging out with rich whites don’t suddenly turn into liberals by virtue of being in a university.

Poly AT for the pads is a great feature add too. They’re fleshing it out in a really nice way (and quickly!).

I actually suggested Bitwig because I thought it was friendly to new users. 😄 FL is a solid choice too, though.

I think you’re getting good suggestions all around, in part because there aren’t many bad options. 😄

I think finding an entry level version of Bitwig cheap might be good. Essentials is cheap, or you might be able to find 8-Track free (I honestly might be able to dig up a code.
Reaper is a great cheap option (with an unlimited trial) but it’s not very user-friendly and doesn’t come with much.

The problem with that is that right wing news organizations would fill the void and provide the only reporting on such events. The Trump admin would likely welcome it.

I’m on a few and it’s wild how quickly your follower count can go up with them.

It feels like you opted for clickbait over accuracy, which sucks because people care a lot about this and want it to be something that, ultimately, it isn’t.

I feel like y’all didn’t really do your research for this one. The judge mentions in the ruling that the case isn’t about generative AI (specifically since Ross wasn’t using it) and the reason Ross lost was largely because their product was a direct competitor. You’re misleading people here.

How are you at learning fairly complex applications?
comment in response to

If relevant, I’m not even sure that it’s entirely good for folks who want genAI to lose in the courts. Ross won on the proportionality factor of the fair use doctrine (as well as the third, but that’s not relevant to genAI models). They lost on the first and fourth for pretty specific reasons.
comment in response to
post
I’m not sure that anyone actually read any of the ruling, but the judge literally states that generative AI wasn’t used and isn’t part of the case.

This doesn’t mean “use Cubase”, I think it’s a personality type thing that you can’t just opt into.

Depends on the games, I think. FF7 definitely looks rough, but smaller scale games like Crash look okay. As always, stylized games have aged better than ones that attempted realism.

In this case? No one.

I honestly think they’d lose more users from implementing AI summaries than they’d gain. Mark’s misreading the room here.

Weird, I thought “SoA picked the 32X” was well known at this point. I didn’t realize people still thought the former.

I consider that question to be in the same category as “why do people in this future setting use swords”, to which the answer is often “because”

...also, @absynth.space has a Discord? 👀

I think the synthesizers, yo Discord server comps are the only things I've finished songs for in the last year or so (context for anyone reading: I'm a mod there). They've felt low pressure for me compared to getting "real" releases done.
Re: the baby, you'll get more sleep soon. At least a little.

Lately? I’m mostly providing mildly contrarian takes and talking about retro gaming. The 18 month olds are a bit tiring for getting serious music production done, but I want to get back into it. Then the goth synthpop can return, maybe. Not the most exciting follow at the moment, haha.

One awesome thing about muting words here is that it even looks at image alt text.
